This is how I feel. I am no manager, that is clear! I don't have the detailed knowledge of MLB goings on. But seat of the pants assessment told me that as he approached 100 pitches, Peavey was gased and would put men on base or worse. As it turned out, my suspicion was correct. I do not know what Farrell saw or what he was thinking when he decided to bring Peavey back out. I'd like to think that Farrrell is able to see what I see. A starter that is fatigued and losing command. Duh!!!
I'm not a huge Farrell Fan and I am not someone who usually dumps on him. However, today, Farrell may have cost the Sox the game or at least made a stupid decision in keeping Peavey out there. I think sometime managers are stuck on the idea of match-ups instead of looking at the fact that the pitcher is actually doing this or that.
Peavey did look pretty good for much of the game just as he has for about the past 2-3 starts.
