  1. 9-5 after 6. It's not over.
  2. 1.5 games entering tonight's game. Scary.

What don't you understand? Obviously any team that has a need for one of the positions mentioned or a pitcher. Even Drew has value. Jettisoning payroll can create roster flexibility.
  4. I won't be around for this game until about the 6th inning. This is good because it seems every time I turn my back on the game the Sox have big innings and score a bunch of runs. Have fun everyone. See you all later!
  5. Okay I will check out WEEI. Thanks Station! My gripe with Maureen McMullen is that she does not seem to actually "write" about the game. She mostly just recalls the innings with little or no insight. I had never heard of her until recently. Some on this board do not like Peter Abraham. I like his reporting, commentary, and humor. But no where near enough to justify paying to read his stuff on Globe.com.
  6. Sox fans have it good compared to Yankee fans and Rays fans when it comes to starting pitching. Even the Sox pen is good. Unfortunately the Sox bats are hibernating.
  7. It certainly was funny watching so many pink hats seem so interested in soccer all of a sudden.
  8. I think that the Globe ( John Henry's paper ) decided to just play hardball with viewers of Boston.com and made most of the worthwhile content available only on the Globe website because they want to get as many paid subscriptions as possible. This is only my opinion. It is really stupid because when viewing Boston.com there are so many advertisements that I could be seeing. Now, even though I attempt to look at Boston.com for something worthy of my attention, the pickings are becoming slimmer by the day. The site is just dreadful to navigate and barely functions on my browser. Let alone the fact that to read anything about the Sox ( my primary interest in reading the site ) I must endure less and less good writing. I have no idea who Maureen McMullen is!!! She does not seems to know much about the game that I love. Her understanding is about the same of those bimbo - de - jour that NESN runs out as sideline reporters and anchors. I'm not being sexist here. They just suck pond water. I am spending more of my time on the ESPN Boston site because of this. I am certainly not a huge fan of ESPN. But at least there are some qualified journalist on that site. Other than Chad Finn, Boston.com has little to offer me anymore.
  9. I'm pissed at the Globe for letting Boston.com become almost total crap. And how dare they screw with Talksox game thread mojo!!!!! Your posting of the lineup is an essential and welcomed component of every game. Maybe you can go to ESPN Boston and resume posting the lineup from there? Just an idea. Here is the link: http://espn.go.com/boston/
  10. This is true. Losing can become as I have said "a culture" within a team. As you have said, a few good wins and that can be changed. The Sox may not make the playoffs this year but let's all hope that they can start to win and play quality ball again.
  11. I think so. The media and of course the Sox FO built this kid up to be the next big time star for the team. We all are guilty of believing that he would be a sure thing this season and his performance in the post season last year fueled this way of thinking. Can't miss rookies are a rare breed. Still, he is very young and he will have a lot of time to continue to develop. Everyone should just be patient. Including X himself.
  12. What I see in this responsible and reasonable post Ted is that you, like most long time Sox fans ( including me ), is that you have not given up hope. I too believe that the Sox can end up having a decent season with just a few tweaks and some production from some who have done little or nothing so far. I don't see the Sox taking a wild card spot this year. If they make the playoffs it will be because they have won the division. It is almost nauseating to watch the Sox flounder this way. I can't remember a time when the Sox have lost so many close games. Bellhorn04 is correct. The pitching has been pretty good overall. This helps to make me think that if the Sox can get just a tad more offensive production, they can win many more games and climb up the standings. It is lousy to think this way, but the Sox have had chances to wins so many close games. Imagine if they start to score more that 3 runs each game.
  13. I'd have to see the replay again to speak somewhat intelligently about this. Maybe Bradley, Betts, of some other speedy CF could have made then catch. But someone who has never played CF in Fenway catches a break here. Double.
  14. I noticed the ovation Febway gave to Arrieta last night. I'd rather the Sox had pounded the Cubs but this guy deserves props. He was painting the corners with pinpoint accuracy all night. http://espn.go.com/blog/boston/red-sox/post/_/id/38375/arrieta-appreciates-fenway-fans-ovation
  15. Va had posted elsewhere that she had been having difficulty posting the lineup from Boston.com. In fact, that site really blows now and at game time I could not find the lineup there either. I posted the lineup from ESPN BOSTON.
  16. I posted lineups Ted. It aint pretty!! But I did what I could quickly.
  17. Exactly. No harm done since the"scrub" Nava was playing heads up behind him.
  18. What misplay was that? It was a double no matter if he fielded it cleanly off the wall or not. Peavey was the pitcher that allowed an extra base hit. He gets credit for that too, I presume!
  19. The honest answer is .....maybe. If the Sox were scoring over 5 runs a game they would stand a decent chance of surviving a Peavy start and prevailing. Still, he pitches like a #5 now and would continue to lose many of his starts. He is an expensive and unproductive part of the rotation when two young pitchers appear to be blooming into starters that are superior to him. Sell him off at the deadline, please..
  20. Many Sox fans scoff at the idea of Lester becoming a Yankee. It will never happen!!! Bull feces!!! The Yankees have lots of money and would love to have an arm as sturdy and productive as Lester. Plus they would take away a key component in the Sox winning machine. Of course any other team can step up and pay enough to lure Lester away, too.
  21. 17 starts and only 1-6. Oye. I hope Peavy does not puke up a bunch of runs early.
