  1. I agree.
  2. If you trade Gardner, who remains to play in the outfield? My boy Ellsbury is habitually absent and only marginally effective when he does play. And the other guy can still hit but has bad knees. I'm serious here. Who are the depth players in the outfield for the Yankees?
  3. Well said young man. Buchholtz is either a pussy and an idiot or just an idiot. Those Fangraph WAR evaluations are f***ed in the head.
  4. http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/2015/11/05/billy-beane-says-sonny-gray-not-for-sale/Vp8brgvLPLcycAuIbHm6ZL/story.html?story_hp Billy Beane says Sonny Gray is not for sale
  5. Oh absolutely. I am itching to see what DD has up his sleeve. I'd like to see DD so something very soon rather than wait for the GM meetings and all that crap. Beat the other to the punch and make some splashes now. Getting rid of Laptop is not a priority.
  6. Not sure about that. Swihart seems to be a can't miss offensive prospect. If so I can see us lamenting trading him away when he goes on a multi-year run of production while the pitcher we acquire fades to obscurity or blows his arm out. To me, I'd rather keep him on board and let him produce in a Sox uni. I very much doubt that any pitcher brought in while trading him would be worth more in the long run.
  7. I have suggested this several times but the Sox just don't listen to me!
  8. I'm with you cp176. But how will we all react if DD comes up short and or fails to build a good BP?
  9. This is the only reason to have kept him. Somebody else may value him. The reason that so many of us Sox fans want him gone is that he is almost 31 and and has only pitched one complete season. 13 mil seems lick a lot for a part time employee. Especially when guys like Miley make all of their starts for less money. If anything or anyone on the Sox can be classified as an "Enigma" it would be Laptop. Dominant for half a season then absent the rest of the season. I'm done with him and if you lived up here you would hear echos of my opinion every day.
  10. Kimmi did not say that. She said that if his defense improves as expected that he would be a better overall catcher. I think!
  11. His arm is good, although not as good as Vasquez at this point. He really needs to shore up his blocking skills. Too many pitches skip by him. He also needs to learn how to hold onto the ball when blocking the plate. Can't find those observations in any metric. Never the less, they are valid and accurate.
  12. It would be nice to maintain strength at catcher. But will the Sox want to have three catchers on the 25 man roster?
  13. The Sox picked up the option on Buch. We're saved!
  14. Okay. Good for the Royals. Onto the important stuff. The off-season maneuvering.
  15. Hardy is over rated. If anyone of the candidates benefits from reputation it would be him. And he has his "pop". As you know, I don't care for UZR and UZR 150. They are poorly formulated and subjectively accumulated stats. You don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows. I can see who make the plays and evaluate his strengths in the requisite skills. XB is pretty good, overall. But the glovey flashy types usually win. Case in point. Kevin Pillar. Yeah, he made a bunch of spectacular plays this year. But is he actually better than Betts? Too bad JBJ played only 74 games this year. He is clearly a Gold Glover.
  16. Nothing like a brain fart on national television in the biggest series of a player's life. As I have said, I really don't care who wins the series. I just want to see good baseball. It would be nice to see the Royals take it as they have been poised to do so for two years. Of course they could become the Buffalo Bills of baseball! About the only reason I can root for the Mets is because Ted is my friend and he sort of likes them. And what he says about the Mets fans being disliked by Yankee fans and all. Also, I have stated that I do not care for Tommy Archer because I think that he is a crooked capped punk ass bitch. But now I have seen how intelligent and articulate he has been on ESPN I kind of like him. Even A-Roid has been doing a decent job for Fox. I can't believe I just said that!
  17. Exactly. And a good reason to believe that it is their year to win it all.
  18. lol. Okay then.
  19. This is a great way of characterizing his play. especially after the 2014 season where "I had to look away" when ball went in his direction.
  20. Good point. I was things the same way. Hey, we all know Xander is not the best SS we have seen. It does seem that there are not too many stand out SS in the AL at the moment. Which is kind of odd.
  21. I'm a little surprised that the vaunted Mets starting pitching has not been more effective. I think deGrom is a monster in the making.
  22. I've always been surprised at Grienke's success in LA because of his social disorder. I bet he stays there.
  23. So nice to see Cespedes f*** up the first play of the game. Typical.
  24. Not sure other than Duke did start a baseball team out in the Pittsfield area at one point. I just posted that because it had been discussed.
  25. And of course there is now this. It seems that Ben has a new job. http://www.overthemonster.com/2015/10/26/9616186/ben-cherington-accepts-position-at-columbia-university
