  1. Hmm. If you gave me a choice of betting on Pablo or Ortiz to perform adequately in 2016 I would certainly go with Ortiz because of his history or production in the regular seasons and playoffs. Even when he has his slumps I have learned that he will almost certainly bounce back to normal. Pablo, on the other hand, has had 4 consecutive years of gradual decline offensively including last year where he sunk to career lows on both sides of the ball. This year he has done close to nothing offensively and has looked dreadful in the field. Could Pablo play better on both sides of the ball? My guess is that he can. However, I believe that in his current condition the likelihood of that happening is low. I'd like to see him succeed, but I just do not see that happening right now. I hope that I have answered your question.
  2. I endorse this post.
  3. The team is almost always better when the players who are performing best are on the field. Logic.
  4. My biggest gripe with the guy. Just dumb.
  5. So let me affirm and add emphasis. Now, granted, my back is all screwed up. That inhibits many routine and necessary daily motions. The addition of about 40 pounds since I can no longer exercise and can no longer low-carb with no gall bladder, I'm hit with the double whammy. I have a significantly reduced range of motion. Putting on socks, underwear, pants, shoes, bathing one's private parts, wiping one's rear, getting into and out of cars. standing up from a sofa, getting out of bed, reaching up or down into kitchen cabinets, ETC. These are some of the practical limitations that I deal with because of the excess fat on my body. Pablo is a fat f*** with NO EXCUSES. He is paid "HUGE" money and refuses to get into anything near optimal playing condition. Yeah. He needs more chances. All of us are being so unfair to him.
  6. He's been 0'fer for two games, I believe.
  7. I don't like labels. I'm 60 ( ugh! ) yet I am on top of most everything associated with my culture and environment. Yaz WAS the best player I ever saw play for the Sox. And Ted is correct. Yaz would have played through most of the hangnails these pussies hit the DL with. But I am not a traditionalist.
  8. None. Like his play on the field. It is worth nothing. DFA and eat the contract until a deal can be worked out with some other dumb GM.
  9. I don't hate boobs. I prefer asses but boobs are okay as well. And I don't hate Pablo. I just don't think he is a "fit" on my team. And I do resent his attitude towards his responsibilities to my team. If he plays well then fine. There will be nothing other than his attitude to complain about. But it's been 13 months of "Chance" for him and nothing other than the $75. mil owed is keeping him on this team. You have misplaced your "I will defend this slob only because you guys are not being reasonable"when pointing a finger at me. Baseball is a performance based business. He does not perform. He is unwilling to change his attitude. Next.
  10. I beg to differ. I have been ringing this bell over Shaw all week.
  11. I never said that. I just don't see why caution with Shaw is such a concern. Any more than with any other unproven player.
  12. Maybe. Could be a viable way for the Sox to save face in this situation. Long term the Sox still look like major boneheads with this deal if he does not have a resurgence on both sides of the ball. The entire affair is mucho embarrassing. I say cut him loose and move on.
  13. The obvious solution is to go get Mark Teahan. While they are at it, the Sox should find Hu Flung Dung or Che-Hsuan Lin or whatever his name is. According to you we will need another OF as well as a 3rd baseman ready to go. Really Dojji, you seem to be the only one with anxiety about 3rd base being manned by Shaw.
  14. Plus Pablo's man boobs inhibit the movement of the bat through the zone. And I bet he can not see his pecker when standing up. Unless he is hung like Mandingo.
  15. "A back end rotation arm or a position player that projects to be MLB average". Prospects. None of the Tribe top prospects are on the table.
  16. I'm more concerned about the crunch at catcher.
  17. Of course the Boston media is also suggesting a trade of Castillo to Cleveland.
  18. For some reason the Boston media is talking about Murphey and Young forming a platoon in LF while Castillo is sent down to Pawtucket.
  19. So with the off day Porcello threw 6 solid innings against the Ray's AAA team. See, I can be optimistic.
  20. I still don't see any risk in starting Shaw at third base. I don't expect him to continue to his close to .500. But I do expect him to duplicate what I saw last year. If he does not do that but rather stinks up the place then go to another player. Deliberately starting a player that is performing at a significantly lower level than someone on the bench is just plainly stupid. Always play with the strongest hand. It's not a difficult concept to grasp.
  21. lol
  22. I would take Lackey on our team this year any day. Yes, he is older and looks like a f***ing dufuss. Aside from when Buch pitches to his potential, Lackey would be the second best pitcher on the team. Our rotation just sucks pond water. No way around it.
  23. The only way I will eat any crow on this is if your Mom cooks it!!!!!
  24. Oye. First of all, I saw Shaw speaking about 3rd base yesterday. He said "I always played 3rd base until I got drafted. Then I was moved to first because of higher rated prospects at 3rd." So much for Dojji's revisionist history and overstated doubt. And as Username has pointed out, Shaw has a refined approach at the plate and has already seen how pitchers adapt to him and has continued to develop. Right now, at this moment, Shaw is clearly the better option of the two players competing for the starting 3rd base position. Always put your best players on the field. Unless your intent is to continue losing.
