  1. Lol. But you do have to admit he was good at getting good projections!!!!!!!
  2. Lol. Same here. But as has been pointed out about two hundred times "it should have worked". Unbelievable.
  3. I wonder where the 2015 staff ranked. It was definitely rank! Blowing up the rotation for 2015 was Ben's biggest f***-up in my opinion.
  4. Doubront was huge disappointment. He was touted as having "the best stuff in the organization". He proved to be a lunk head much like Buch. I remember Pedro working with RDLR in spring training and saying that the kid was the real deal. I guess even Pedro can be wrong once in a while. Webster was best known for his dear in the headlights look and s***ing the bed at every opportunity. Aside from the salary dump, the Sox got nothing from that LA deal that I can remember.
  5. Exactly how is it known that Ben "knows a ton about prospect development"? Exactly how has this been determined? And who made this determination?
  6. I understand this and I agree.
  7. Gee, 26 HR in 162. That should make Moon happy!
  8. I admit that I don't recall seeing the guy play. But, looking at his stats I see nothing that tells me this guy is the real deal offensively. I too believe that Holt can handle 2nd this season. As long as he does not hit his head. I like Phillips and would be keen on seeing what he can do. I don't see the Sox making a move for a long term 2nd baseman until the off season. They will afford Pedroia every opportunity to fail before they make a significant move.
  9. Yeah I get that. I looked at his stats. But, he has never played more than 120 games, has hit more than 20 dingers once, and has had .257 average with only a decent .333 OBP. I see how he is valuable to the Sox now. But I won't be surprised if his offense slides and people start bitching about him. He is a good reserve player to have on this team. He is just not "all that".
  10. Yeah I'm sure Vaz is thrilled with the pin that has been inserted in his pinky. That must give him great comfort as he "rests".
  11. You mean like Jalen Beeks?
  12. It's interesting that you mention game calling. About two weeks ago or so, Swi was behind the dish and would look over in the direction of the dugout before putting down the sign. Last night I did not notice him doing this. He handled what, 6 pitchers last night? I hope to see him play significant time now. I think Leon is a pretty good catcher. I don't know that he can handle 80% of the catching duties as many have suggested. We will see. So far, so good.
  13. It was only one game but he sure looked like he was capable of being a starting MLB catcher to me. MVP may have a point. I don't know because I don't really see how pitch presentation is such a critical aspect of a catcher's performance. That is to say I don't have much knowledge on the subject. Until the last 3 or so years almost no one ever mentioned "framimg " as stat dweebs call it. Never once did I hear anyone discuss this aspect of Fisk, Montgomery, Josephson, Gedman, etc. Now it appears to be a critical part of a catcher's ability and the pitching staffs success. I agree that watching a really good athlete is enjoyable. Watching Swi run from 1st to home on a double is sweet.
  14. So what is your point? Owens is a failure. All your precious projections and ranking have meant dick. Jesus you guys love to use stats and ranking just to say nothing. Maybe you can get some medication or therapy for that condition.
  15. Oh I am overcome with joy that some metric affirms what I can plainly see. Good. I can finally sleep.
  16. Nonsense. They need innings.
  17. s*** happens Doc. Move on.
  18. So you think that he can provide an immediate upgrade over Holt?
  19. Not so sure about this. I think the guy may have decent stuff. Not overwhelming stuff, but functional stuff. He does seem to be nervous but I am just assuming that. He will be back up. Sox won't give up on him after just two appearances. They need him now with 3 starters on the shelf.
  20. Yeah I suspect he just has a case of the nerves. It does seem clear that at this point he is more promising than Henry Owens ever was in MLB.
  21. I prefer him in left. Especially since he has shown improvement out there this year. Pretty sure some knob will post extraneous data that they believe shows that Bennie has shown no improvement in left. Have at it nerds.
  22. How is he terrible in center field?
  23. I am so glad we never see this type of person post on Talksox!!!11!1
