    Owen's fastball command is what is really key here. He has to keep from getting behind and walking so many batters. He has to not suck.

    I did not intend to attack Dojji at all. He usually says good stuff. I just recall things very differently from what he presented and I made no effort to look things up on the net. I though Apparicio went 0-52 but again this is just from memory only. In any case, he was much better defensively than any of the other guys mentioned including probably Jose.

    You still have no idea. You were dead then and did not witness what actually happened. Luis Apparicio was past his prime and suffered a terrible slump after coming to Boston. So much so that Nixon ( I believe ) sent him a Telegram of encouragement. Regardless, He remained a spectacular defensive SS and was recognized as one of the best in the AL. Perocelli's size had nothing to do with moving him to 3rd, as I recall. The Sox wanted Apparicio at SS. Valentin was pretty good at SS as well. But there was a generational player knocking at the SS door. It made sense to move him to third.

    Not sure who said it, either Werner or Henry. Yesterday on WEEI or Sportshub one of them said that the Sox had elected NOT TO INSURE the Sandoval contract be cause there was not sufficient risk to justify it. I heard the words spoken in a report on Evening Edition.

    I don't remember Valentin or Petrocelli being moved to third because they became too big to play SS.

    Hmm. Swihart has now played 3 games in left for Pawtucket. 7 put outs and no errors.

    Craig, Castillo, Pablo, that's about $40. Mil a year. Lovely. I want Buch gone but I have no positive feelings about signing The Freak. That hip concerns me. Especially with that full body delivery. Pass.

    I admit that I was one of those that wanted Headly over Pablo. I guess both teams are f***ed. The Sox are far more f***ed, though.

    Sound reasoning. About him being the 3rd baseman going forward, I'm not so sure. It's possible that he could be back at first next year if Hanley goes to DH. Who knows who will play 3rd next year? It's far from being determined. But I am pleased with what Shaw has shown defensively at either position.
