  1. It's a little bit of everything around here.
  2. The average SS numbers this season have been so pathetic that Iglesias should have no problem fitting in with his defense.
  3. I am also nervous about the number of reliable relievers in our pen and the overuse on Uehara/Tazawa, but I don't think Papelbon would solve the problem. Just because we saved prospects that we probably should have traded for Peavy, doesn't mean we have to trade them for Papelbon or Young.
  4. I don't think the Phillies were hung on Bogaerts, I think they really wanted Bradley, 1-2 of those 5 top 10 prospect pitchers, and salary relief.
  5. If you break it down by team, I think we won in the trade, I can see the Tigers winning in the trade (replacing a likely suspended SS and improving a horrible infield defense) but I can't really see Chicago benefiting much from the trade. Then again we might not know the answer to that for many years.
  6. UN does bring up a good point. Since we got Peavy for what seems like a steal, we can always take advantage of the time before the deadline and make a profit on the trade. I'm not saying trade Peavy for a profit but since we got Peavy without exchanging top prospects, we can see if Philly's Lee demands softens, especially closer to the deadline and now that we have a s*** more leverage.
  7. Another benefit is that since Peavy is set for next year, we can hold onto him for the year and get a draft pick for him, unlike the rental trades. (ie Garza) I'd say Seattle's offense might be a good welcome to Boston for Peavy. Too bad we have to face Iwakuma and Felix.
  8. Now compare this return to the Garza return again. hahahaha
  9. Roughly where would you have our system after the trade? (Probably where you had it before the trade, right?)
  10. It takes a DL stint or two to sour the deal, but realistically it's hard for this to be a bad trade for us, short term and long term. Even if one of those Class A players makes the majors.
  11. We might even still be top 5. Assuming Iglesias no longer counted as a prospect and according to Soxprospects we lost 1 top 40 prospect (36th) I'd say 6th-7th at worst.
  12. Montas would be the only one to worry about in the deal. He was our 22nd best prospect at the beginning of the season and was now at 36th. (Soxprospects) 20 year old pitcher, 96-100mph fastball, below average command. Typically viewed as a reliever going forward. Edit: Wendelken was our 13th round pick from 2012, he was a reliever on Greenville, Montas was a starter on Greenville, and Rondon was a 2B on Lowell.
  13. Eh, I'd rather have f***ed them (pause) by getting Lee for a minimal return, but letting them f*** themselves is always nice. I want to watch that crumbling house of cards collapse over the next few years.
  14. Trust me, I wanted Lee way more than Peavy, but this seems like a deceptively low price to pay for Peavy, whereas the Phillies wanted an obnoxiously high price for Lee. We will never know all of the pieces on the table for an eventual deal, but we can blame the Philly GM more than anyone for why the Lee deal didn't get done. And instead of surrendering to their demands, we let Philly go f*** themselves.
  15. I think that Villarreal makes our 40 crunch (Rule 5) dilemma even worse. I still think we needed a reliable reliever, but with Morales/Wilson rehabbing and Britton performing admirably (and Beato not performing too badly) we might be all right. Not great, but all right.
  16. I agree, while all of the dust hasn't settled yet, it's hard to view this trade badly, even if I didn't want Peavy in the first place.
  17. I'm more concerned about improving in the playoffs and I'm not sure Peavy adds much there. I do think Peavy can help us win a few more games while Buchholz is out, which in and of itself helps us from slipping in the standings while we wait for him. I'd be surprised if he outperforms many of our starters going forward.
  18. I had heard a bunch about Rijo being traded throughout this season but in the end I'm happy with the deal if that is it. I still think we could have done something regarding our 40 man crunch and Rule 5 draft, and while I'm not the biggest fan of Peavy recently I think this was a safe deal that can help us improve a little.
  19. I'll take the blame for that one. That was definitely me. I guess me "cuz f*** y'all that's why" prediction logic is now 0-1.
  20. If the Tigers are involved, I wonder if Iglesias is to replace Peralta's incoming suspension.
  21. Depending on the specific definition of raped, then yes. But I need to know exactly what's being sent in this trade to confirm.
  22. If that's the case I'm going to go down to the hardware store in the morning and purchase some rope and look up a Youtube video on how to tie a noose. It's been a good one guys. Take care of yourselves.
  23. I felt like Omar Minaya and Dominicans would have been a better place to start.
  24. @jonheymancbs: red sox and white sox have a peavy deal. http://i595.photobucket.com/albums/tt38/italstallianion/Futurama-Professor-Farnsworth-Meme-I-dont-want-to-live-on-this-planet-anymore-24_zpsb7309ec2.jpg http://i595.photobucket.com/albums/tt38/italstallianion/24484603_zpsb68d8429.jpg
  25. And to think we have like 18 hours of this speculation crap left to go.
