I agree. I doubt that Gardner would have been thrown out, but Cervelli should have been out for getting in the way. Damn near injured Shoppach in the process. You'd expect a catcher (Cervelli) to know better.
I think he'll be good, I just don't think he'd be great this year. He's got the potential though. It's also hard for a young guy to be the ace of a good AL East team.
In the Oakland/Seattle game, the runners got to advance a base because the catcher picked up the ball with his helmet. Did anyone see this? Does anyone know the rule on this?
Neither. I forgot his name, but he's a really tall dude that takes forever to signal ball or strike. He was the umpire in the pine tar incident game. Something like Tim McCollough. I'm way too drunk to remember names now.
