  1. Doubt it, I'd imagine that a big move (like a trade) could create more holes which would have to be filled later. That said, I'd love to get Fuentes and Wheeler, but the only thing I think we need is a serviceable LOOGY. But I'd rather have Wheeler than Atchison or Wakefield, but that's my preference. I trust that Theo will make the right moves to put us in good shape for when the season starts.
  2. With a 12 man pitching staff and 5 starters, there'd be 7 relievers, with one of them being Wakefield. Still, I wouldn't mind getting Dan Wheeler to make our bullpen even better, but with Papelbon, Bard, Jenks and a halfway decent lefty (other than Doubront), I think we'd have a pretty good bullpen, and one that's good enough to start the season.
  3. No dice. I wouldn't take that bet. I never thought or said that the Red Sox would do otherwise.
  4. First of all, I don't think we have McDonald on our roster yet. He was who I was looking for as a RH bat off the bench when I said it. And to answer your question "what more do I want" how about a 5th righty that can hit lefties well.
  5. Hmm wow, I didn't think it would have been that recent. The main reason I asked (other than an argument with a Yankee fan friend of mine) is because I wanted to see if Theo was really that much against being in the luxury tax bracket, and whether or not such a "cap" would prevent us from signing someone like Dan Wheeler or Brian Fuentes and the RH bat we could use off the bench.
  6. Just a quick question, does anyone here know when was the last time the Red Sox were over the luxury tax cutoff, and how often they've been over it? Also, for fun's sake, does anyone know the last time the Yankees were under the luxury tax cutoff?
  7. I'm almost thinking about conceding this one because I think you're going to kick my ass here. Then again, I did concede the finals of the NBA tournament to WhiskeyBreath, but in all fairness, I also thought he was going to beat me and that we should move along with this redraft since voter interest in the NBA redraft diminshed.
  8. Orlando Hudson gets 2/11.5 from the Padres pending a physical. I'm glad that he gets a multiyear deal. He deserves it.
  9. I will say this, I do think that the best 4 teams made it to the final 4, and that the only real way to see who'd win would be for these teams to actually face. I just wish the athletes involved would agree to a game to settle this out.
  10. So it's all good in the hood now?
  11. Not the exact argument, in other words, not specifically pertaining to your "no justification" comment. More along the lines of the general debated quality of voting and the correlation between power rankings and results in the matchups.
  12. Fine, although I can very well see it resurfacing later at some point.
  13. And Kilo, I don't actually think that you and YH conspired against me to take my team down early. While I wouldn't have been surprised if that was the case (because it would explain the vote and make it appear reasonable) I didn't accuse you both of foul play. And I don't have a problem with what Y228 said (although I don't think he should have said unjustified in a close matchup) because I don't think the remaining voters actually read that stuff and make their decisions based on it. I see the last voter (if there even is one) simply looking at the rosters, making a gut decision and using a one-liner to justify it. To Y228's point, the votes that were for your team were quick one liners, while the votes for his team were more thought out. I would say that if Y228 deliberately thought this out to sway the voters, then I would agree with you that it's petty and cheap, but I don't think that Y228 would do such a thing, so I'm not hypocritical for defending him.
  14. Despite all of this, I would say that in the course of 3 redrafts, I think that there was only one outcome that was bogus and the result of crappy voting. All of the other matchups went reasonably according to how they should, so even though we'd all question the voting now and then, it's rarely decided the actual outcome of the contest. At this point, with the final 4 teams remaining, I think that we're all close enough that whoever loses wouldn't technically get screwed. I also agree that this conflict was stupid. I had lingering resentment for people voting against my team in the Coco matchup, (although I'm not bothered by it in the WhiskeyBreath matchup) and this thread wasn't the time and place to vent it. I'm responsible just as much as anyone for the arguments that transpired in the thread, and while I did mean what I said, I apologise for unnecessarily venting here.
  15. I doubt it's exactly the same. I think that Y228 was simply saying that he's not the only one to get invested into these things and question voters in the event that things don't manifest themselves the same way that we imagined them to. I don't think he was saying those examples are equal, although they do show similar traits. I mean most of us have done it. We'd all admit that sometimes the quality of the voting sucks. That's why so many people no longer vote because we've constantly ripped on the poor quality of their voting, and now only 4-5 people vote at most.
  16. YH, I put (though YH could) saying that you could build a 3-4 defense, and that part of my criticism didn't apply to you. You, Y228, and Jbay might be the only ones to do the 3-4 correctly. Kilo, Ytrb, Coco, Boston22407 and others all messed it up. That said, I wouldn't go as far as to say that you had the best one in the league, but that's another debate entirely.
  17. I don't think that Y228 would take solace in a tainted victory. He just wants the people to vote, which besides from 4-5 people, the other 10 have taken the rest of the challenge off.
  18. I agree a bit because I think Kilo vs. Y228 is a close game. I mean they were also close in seeds, so I do think that there is justification for voting for Kilo's team here. Just like I think there is justification for voting for WhiskeyBreath's team vs. mine in the other matchup. However, I do think that my team vs. Coco's team was a blowout considering it was the #1 vs. the #9 seed. I'd be willing to bet that you'd be livid if people voted against your team in the earlier rounds Kilo. You might not have shown it like I did, but you'd be pissed off and questioning the abilities of the voters. Heck, YH even threw a fit in the NBA voting when he got eliminated and he was the 7-8 seed. And this isn't the first time something like that happened either. In the NBA redraft the #9 seed (who was also Coco) came within a vote of beating the #1 seed there too. Although that was WhiskeyBreath and not me.
  19. I wouldn't really say that Y228 is out of line. I'm definitely out of line, especially for being pissed at a situation that didn't happen, but Y228 is fine. He's defending his team in a matchup thread he's in.
  20. As long as Girardi isn't completely retarded and ONLY uses him against lefties, then you should be fine. And I'm not taking a shot at Girardi here, I'm ripping on that idiot manager from the Rockies.
