I understand your point, but I wouldn't consider the Lakers a "normal, limited budget team" I think your point would apply in 9/10 of the circumstances, but I think this is the 1/10 where you'd be wrong, which is why I said something. If this was the 9/10 where you'd be right, I wouldn't have even brought it up.

If Bynum is healthy and playing well, combined with Kobe, Pau, Odom, Artest etc (and Phil Jackson), I don't think that an Eastern Conference All Star Team would win a 7 game series.

Sweet, now I move up a ranking. j/k In all seriousness, depending on the seriousness of the injury, you'd most likely be able to drop him and pick up another starter. I'll talk to Dipre about it, but in my opinion since Wainwright was such an early pick, and since he costs such little salary, I think that you should be able to draft a FA pitcher at ANY salary and not have it count towards the cap. I'm just throwing that idea out there, but we'll see what Dipre thinks. It also depends on how much under the cap you were in the first place. -

Couldn't they have gotten Melo as a free agent and just skipped the middle man? Couldn't they have gotten him without giving up a bunch of their top players? Sure, in terms of salary they couldn't afford some of those players and might lose a few anyway, I'd imagine that the Knicks would be better with Carmelo, Stoudemire, and 1-2 players from the package they gave up. Edit: I'm only asking since that seems to be the point my friend is pissed off about. I'm not arguing one way or the other.

I found it funny because I see the NY fans here who love the trade, and my facebook feed was/is dominated by one of my former roomates status/wallpost updates about how much he hates the trade and wishes that he wasn't a Knicks fan anymore.
