I didn't say that it was 100% accurate, or is going to happen, but between the 2 extremes, I'd see Jimmer going 17th before I see him in the top 5. If I had to predict I'd say right around where the drafts are saying in the 10-14 range.
I just checked 5 mock drafts, one put him at 10th, 2 put him at 13th, one put him at 14th, and another put Jimmer going 17th. While the mock drafts are obviously not clear predictions of what will happen, considering the draft order isn't set and people might not go to the NBA, I think it's clear that Jimmer won't be going top 5.
Don't forget that the Cavs have 2 early first rounders, seeing as they get the Clippers pick coming up for the Baron Davis deal. Right now, if everything went in order (which it won't), the Cavs would get the first and the 6th picks. And I'd be willing to bet that Jimmer will still be on the board after Cleveland picks again.
While I do think that the thread is dead, and usually just consists of Jacko talking to himself and likely overhyping his own team's players, I do like reading the info now and then to get a decent idea as to where the Yankees system is and where some of the IFA's are going.
I wouldn't compare this thread to the quality on those Yankee prospect sites, but I would never be a member of those places, and I'd be too lazy to leave here. That said, I think a lot of you guys are right, but I don't think that it translates into this thread having to be closed or anything. Is this thread relatively useless? Sure, but I don't think that it would need to be closed.
And don't forget that unlike most other sports, the worst team in the NBA isn't guaranteed the number 1 pick (not like Jimmer will go first) so who knows if the Cavs will ever get Jimmer. Then factor in that even if the Cavs get Jimmer, or someone of equal talent, the Cavs are still a LONG way from winning a championship.
That'd make the Cavs better, but that still wouldn't make them a championship team. Not with the Celtics, Bulls, Magic, Heat, and maybe even the Hawks and Knicks in the way. And then factor in the Western Teams like the Lakers, Mavs, Spurs, etc.
Ummmmm.....what?!? Jimmer can clone himself 4 times and all of them could play for the Cavaliers and they still wouldn't win a championship. I'm sorry dude, but drafting Jimmer is like using Tylenol for a broken leg.
While it might benefit the Spurs more if the Heat win, I'd rather have the Lakers win to stick it to the Heat, and hopefully continue the Heat's downward spiral at least until after the Spurs play the Heat again.
