  1. I have no problem respecting those fans who would be just has happy with lowell he just won a ws mvp and is a true pleasure to watch play 3B I didn't think the tex to boston made much sense unless the FO has large concerns about his and or orttiz's health but those who brought up the great lars crack me up
  2. well I guess it would only be fair seeing how you guys signed penny I guess we could go with jerrys idea and help out the jimmy fund by matching up dmatt and perez http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/ii262/pinstripezac/walk.jpg
  3. here's the link http://www.nypost.com/seven/01042009/sports/yankees/perez_to_yanks__lowe_to_mets_finishing_t_147177.htm other than the fact I could care less about the money I tend to agree with all you said years would be my biggest concern he's not at the top of my wish list but would make us a better team than what we have today like you mention he's still very young but I still have high hopes for hughes later this yr of next yr
  4. the great news is we are talking about lester in this light vs a guy coming back from having cancer issues both our teams could us 1 more med level starter that can eat some innings byrd is talking about retirement but IMO he could help both teams I'm thinking 3 out of the 4 wiggles will take a minor step backwards this yr http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/ii262/pinstripezac/wiggles.jpg
  5. . thanks example1 I appreciated your coments don't get me wrong, I enjoy rolling in the mud too I just have to figure out who's who around here and who deserves it now you are being to kind ex1 a thankful mfy fan LOL is that an oxymoron sure we'll thank you for that right after you guys thank uncle geo for causing you guys to get that much better than all the other division winners
  6. why you gotta be like that, I was refering to the point of the article I posted what's your source why don't you save the smack for when I deserve it I was talking BB with respect
  7. point taken, but CC and aj numbers don't matter the concern has to do with pitchers under 25 who haven't pitched 200 innings yet
  8. all true, I hope you realize I was responding to the poster saying he only did it on walk yrs and the fact he has done it more than becket is relevant
  9. thanks, oh yes we are on the same page about little joe and his power plays, I took a lot of heat from nyy fans last yr for calling girardi out hopefully he has learned from all his mistakes last yr or they boot him sooner than later I think he might be a good mgr someday but not for a veteran star studed team http://s266.photobucket.com/albums/ii262/pinstripezac/?action=view&current=candyshort.flv
  10. actually that's what makes me sleep a little better at night knowing that will not be the case this yr and he won't be throwing on short rest in sept allows me to think that had an effect on his PO performances and think that he should do better next time but yeah I think he might have a slow start, but the yanks will protect him a lot more than he was the last 2 yrs
  11. agreed I see the others have explained the difference this might help http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/writers/tom_verducci/02/05/verducci.YAE/index.html Why can't they throw 200 innings? Simply put, they're not conditioned for it yet. It's like training for a marathon. You need to build stamina incrementally. The unofficial industry standard is that no young pitcher should throw more than 30 more innings than he did the previous season. It's a general rule of thumb, and one I've been tracking for about a decade. When teams violate the incremental safeguard, it's amazing how often they pay for it. Pitchers generally feel the effects of abusive increases in workload the next year, not the season in which they were pushed. In other words, you might be able to finish that marathon for which you didn't properly train, but your body will have hell to pay for it. I call it the Year After Effect. Here's the way I track it: Find major league pitchers 25-and-under who broke the 30-inning rule. In some cases a pitcher's innings the previous season may have been artificially depressed, such as by injury, so I'll use his professional high for the baseline, or, in the case of a recent draftee like Kennedy, his college workload. All innings count (minors, majors, postseason). In 2005 and '06 I found 17 pitchers I defined as at-risk of the YAE. None made it through the next year without an injury or a higher ERA. Ten of them broke down, the most seriously hurt being Francisco Liriano, Gustavo Chacin, Adam Loewen, Scott Mathieson and Anibel Sanchez. Eleven of them had worse ERAs, by an average of about a run and a half. Remember, it's a general rule; there are exceptions, the superlative Justin Verlander being one.
  12. cc, wang, aj vs becket, lester dmatt who do I like better ? it depends, if we are talking head to head, or in the PO I'd give boston the edge ( I must respect thefact they have done it ) but for the 162 I'd go with nyy and depending on what Tbay does this yr the 162 might be more important you guys have to be concern over the amount of innings lester pitched last yr
  13. yeah we much rather have our FO fly down to meet him and come home empty handed with that sticker shock look http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/ii262/pinstripezac/baras-1.jpg
  14. agreed but I don't see the yanks going that way it would mean giving up on hughes I see them them going for the short deal andy , sheets, byrd
  15. I think he will be a closer he's the real deal, he had more K's and less walks than krod hopefully for RSN sake he signed for a lot more money than krod did http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/ii262/pinstripezac/krod.jpg
  16. you know what they are doing that's even worse than that ? I heard uncle geo was excepting soc security seriously what's your point if you had a biz you wouldn't want the cheaper loans? or that all government employees should take a salary cut to keep the taxes down your beef is with the system , not with the yankees it's all normal and no different than the sox doing it for the renovations it really has little to do with the tax rates, you are talking about money they would not see whether they gave the loans or not no idea what the lux boxes have to do with it don't you know how many they sold ? you probably do that's why it's bothering you so much and to bring the timing up of these latest loans has no merit, this horse left the barn way before the economy went south
  17. another way the cap hurts the smaller teams and what makes BB different than the other sports is july 31
  18. that's true but the big guys will just use their advantage there why were you guys able to draft hansen ? it will just get worse and end up hurting the teams you are trying to help is there really a need for a cap ? - Over the past 10 years, eight different teams have won the World Series. In all, 15 teams made the World Series -- half of the teams in baseball. -- Over the past 20 years, 14 different teams have won the World Series. In all 22 teams made the World Series. Now, we're at more than two-thirds who have reached the Series. -- Over the last 30 years, 20 different teams have won the World Series, and only four -- Cubs, Mariners, Rangers and the Expos/Nationals -- have failed to get there. By comparison, NFL teams that have not made the Super Bowl the last 30 years include: The Jets, Browns, Chiefs, Saints, Cardinals, Lions, Jaguars, Texans and Vikings, That's 10, almost one-third of all the teams in the NFL -- Only 14 teams have won the Super Bowl over the last 30 years. -- Only 14 different men have won Wimbledon over the last 30 years. -- Only 13 teams have won the Stanley Cup over the last 30 years. -- Only nine teams have won an NBA title over the last 30 years.
  19. I was referring to not much has changed as far as the yanks and sox being evil since he bought the team in 05 I think a long time owner would have more credibility but I agree he is doing a heck of a job and I really respect the fact that he had the guts to '' GO FOR IT '' last yr by trading for CC
  20. as far as I know that only comes into play if a certain amount of FA haven't filed, I don't think that's th case but that's where I was coming from if the sox or most other team signed sheets it would cost them a 1st round pick the yanks a 4th round pick which means a little more seeing how we are talking about a short contract Limits on free agent signings If 0-14 players file for free agency under Article XX ( of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, no team may sign more than 1 Type A or B player. If 15-38 players file for free agency, no team may sign more than 2. If 39-62 players file for free agency, no team may sign more than 3, with the limits increasing accordingly for higher totals. A club may sign an unlimited number of free agents who do not qualify as Type A or B free agents. A club may sign as many type A and B free agents as it has lost, regardless of the limits above.
  21. I don't know about that however I do agree with uncle geo being evil http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/ii262/pinstripezac/yy.jpg
