  1. here's a fun thought 4 U if the yanks do save that 60 mill by staying under the cap (and make PO) that's what it will take to buy out arod's remaining 3/61 contract ;-)
  2. don't U think he meant compared to finding a FA CF lead off hitter and don't U think that has merit as far as it being a fair trade I have NP with it thing is it's a lot easier to like the johnny wannabee signing when U know U have gardner to back up CF for gms missed
  3. Would You Trade Gardner For Homer Bailey? Cincinatti is the team with the clearest need for both a center fielder and leadoff hitter, especially after losing Shin-Soo Choo to the Rangers last week. The Reds have already established interest in trading for Brett Gardner, after news broke that the Yankees turned down a Gardner for Brandon Phillips swap. After a year of struggle in Triple-A for top prospect Billy Hamilton, the Reds still maintain a need for a speedy glove and leadoff bat. With one year left on his contract, and Hamilton likely ready to step in as a full time player in 2015, Gardner fits the Reds’ needs perfectly .........................................The question remains whether or not trading Gardner for Bailey makes sense from the Yankees’ perspective. Though Bailey likely has a bit more value than Gardner, starting pitchers are still easy to find on the open market 4 the full read http://itsaboutthemoney.net/archives/2014/01/07/would-you-trade-gardner-for-homer-bailey/
  4. any predictions I say 162 min
  5. Bob Klapisch 11m With Tanaka now posted, we’re about to find out if #Yankees are serious about $189m threshold. No way to pay Tanaka and still stay under. we’re about to find out if #Yankees are 'the giant' anymore if they don't get him this will be the biggest fail since cliff lee merry christmas 2 all
  6. did not realize the thread was all about you comments from a players ex mgr gives it a tad more merit than your avg ''puff piece '' it was posted for all the doubters to pause and a reason to smile for those who want to believe it's a 1 yr 2 mill contract perhaps you need to chill
  7. nice of buck 2 say he must feel better now that the yanks signed mccan ;-) Showalter: Brian Roberts will be good fit for Yankees By Joel Sherman December 19, 2013 | 12:38pm Since taking over on July 29, 2010, Buck Showalter has managed 582 games for the Orioles. Brian Roberts, mainly due to injury, played in fewer than one-third of them — just 161 in all. Nevertheless, Showalter saw enough, particularly last year, to envision Roberts being a significant contributor to his new team – the Yankees. “I had a good relationship with him,” Showalter said by phone. “We are going to miss him. He is competitive. And I really like him. You saw glimpses [last year] of what everyone used to see, and I believe it is still there. He takes very good care of himself. He has something left. I’d be surprised if he didn’t do well for the Yankees. And I mean that.” Showalter acknowledged there is a lot of maintenance with Roberts, 36, whose past four seasons have been overwhelmed by injuries to his hip and hamstring that necessitated surgeries, and prolonged battles with concussion symptoms. Nevertheless, Showalter said Roberts “fits” the Yankees, and by that meant: He is a patient hitter who will work pitch counts, draw walks and even give a tough lefty-on-lefty at-bat. Showalter thought Roberts was a smart enough hitter to capitalize on the Stadium’s short right-field porch and predicted 10-15 homers were a reasonable expectation. Showalter said Roberts’ range has been affected somewhat by injury and age, but that he is a steady defender at second base. Showalter expects some transitional issues for Roberts, who has only played for the Orioles in his career, but the former Yankees manager pointed to attributes that will make Roberts’ Baltimore-to-New York switch easier. “Brian is smart, Brian is media savvy,” Showalter said, “and I think Brian will be a good teammate.” Roberts cleaned out his locker after the Orioles’ final game, and Baltimore officials took that as a sign he might want a change of scenery, might want to join a team with a richer history of recent contention. Baltimore executives still believed they would have some chance to counter offers, but Roberts took the Yankees’ $2 million bid without notifying the Orioles, who probably would have gone to that amount — maybe a drop more — to keep a player long viewed as a favorite of owner Peter Angelos.
  8. must B a JZ fan seasons greetings my friend
  9. I don't know 4 sure but don't we have to figure choo had a say in it if there really was such an offer
  10. source 4 what Divinity post is both accurate & common knowledge
  11. Scott Soshnick of Bloomberg.com spoke with some certified public beancounters and they determined that Cano’s deal ($240M/10 yrs) will be worth an extra $42M due to favorable income tax rates. Washington has no state income tax; New Jersey, where Cano lives lived has an income tax rate at 8.97%. To wit: The Yankees would have had to pay Cano about $265 million for him to keep the same amount that he will with Seattle… Cano’s net pay over the life of his Seattle contract is about $128 million… His net pay over the life of the Yankees offer, he said, would have been about $86 million. http://itsaboutthemoney.net/archives/2013/12/10/canos-net-deal-with-ms-worth-42m-more-than-yanks-bid/#idc-container
  12. he wouldn't be playing behind him he would be right next to him as part of one of the best OF
  13. yeah fred I was just talking 'what if' I agree I can't see clev trading him if they were afraid of Ellsbury turning up lame maybe they might have said no to him and signed Cano instead. You think? I'm not sure if I accept the conection beside wanting/having a solid plan B isn't the same of being afraid
  14. truth is they kinda need gardner I mean it's not like ells has the best history when it comes 2 being able to play so they need him as a CF back up but he is their best chip
  15. I agree it doesn't make sense 4 clev but I could see a 3 team deal that included gardner and some lower level kids getting it done if clev actually wanted to trade him
  16. MLB Network Radio @MLBNetworkRadio 2m .RT @Buster_ESPN: Source: There are no legs to the Yankees-Masterson trade talk.
  17. I'm not usually a conspiracy guy but I think this is taking so long to calm the other owners from complaining to much about what a break nyy are getting if arod does get the 211 as far as the players not liking little joe I think that was true his 1st yr following a popular big joe and having some new rules which is normal, since then joe has change some of his ways and I don't think their is a problem as far as cano goes if those reports were true besides the batting order it's not to hard to imagine cano got some heat for is lackadaisical play at times
  18. Richard Griffin ‏@RGriffinStar Source tells me AA wants to try and trade for SP, and possibly go for a FA SP leaning on Garza with AL east experience also thinks Santana may be out of reach due to contract term demands thinks alot of teams will be on them due to uncertain outcome of Tanaka. #Bluejays looks like some people agree santana gets the edge over garza
  19. good point even if given rudely real bad 1 year but there's HR and there's HR solo HR aren't so bad last yr I would of pick garza but he didn't do much in texas at the end of the yr
  20. The Eagles still seem like they don't want to post Tanaka. not getting tanaka will hurt more than cano Garza and Santana aren't going to wait forever, but it seems like they are slowed down while figuring out the market for Tanaka and Price who do U like better I'm thinking santana gets a slight edge both have the same career WHIP 128
  21. exactly it's more like ells over granderson
