@redsoxpayroll In the offseason, Justin Turner signed a 1yr/$8.3MM contract for 2023 plus a $13.4MM player option for 2024. The option comes with a $6.7MM buyout. This means that once the option comes due in early November after the World Series, he'll have what seems to be an easy decision to make. If he declines the option and makes $6.7MM immediately, all he needs to do is find a 1yr/$6.7MM deal in free agency to beat the total option value for 2024. With 1.8 WAR and 123 wRC+, that would be a no-brainer for any team.

Casas may get better. Duvall is a decent corner OF, but a horrible CF. Yoshida is a DH.

Red Sox have NO chance. 23 games to go and 5 behind is insurmountable for this team. They would need to go 18-5 or better to make it close. It's not going to happen.

C'mon, Nate's best year was 2021 when he had 5.7 fWAR. You can't say this year was THE outlier.

The problem definitely resides in the rotation first and foremost. The worst two guys in your bullpen aren't going to tank your season.

Bloom offered Eovaldi a contract, but took it off the table when Eovaldi looked elsewhere. 2.8 fWAR Bloom then offered Eflin a contract, but lost out to the Rays who simply matched the contract. 4.1 fWAR Bloom decided to go with the backup plan of Corey Kluber. -0.8 fWAR Big yikes.

It's not likely as I believe Stearns is a NY guy. I don't know how or why the Sox were reported again as interest kings. Maybe to increase the $$$? Maybe just to get the market talking? Is JH really looking elsewhere? If so, it's Theo or bust. Back up that Brinks truck and bring the GOAT home.

I mean, you're calling Walter and "DHam" as additions for 2023, might as well include all the other additions from previous years including good players like Josh Taylor (0.9 fWAR 2019).

The Blue Jays are perennial pretenders and the Orioles will go back to being the Orioles in a few years due to their owner. They will be pretty good over the short term though. AL Central is a hodgepodge. TEX isn't sustainable.
