  1. I'm not sure Rosier is much to note. He's a singles guy who will probably just get by on speed until he gets to the upper levels, same with Max Ferguson. SoxProspects keeps saying that the other shoe is going to drop for Hamilton and that he'll go back to his last year numbers, but he's had a really strong May. Maybe he's turning a corner? Not sure what he can do at the MLB level, but there's lots of use if he can be a bench guy (MIF/OF) with some pop and massive speed. Denlinger should probably be promoted to AAA soon as that bullpen sucks.
  2. Not sure what his stats from age 21-26 have to do with who he is as a pitcher now? Since 2019, his xFIP is 4.29 with an ERA of 4.49. That seems like the Wacha that I expect going forward.
  3. Yes, in 2016 when his ERA was 5 but his xFIP was 4, he was a better pitcher than his ERA showed. Same with 2020 and 2021. I think he's generally a 4.50 type pitcher. His low 3 ERA years are an anomaly. He's given up 1 run in his past 25 innings and I don't think that's going to last. He just doesn't have overwhelming stuff like that. There's still a lot of blue on his Statcast page.
  4. He's been really great this season. I wasn't sure what to expect. I heard that his ceiling was potentially higher than Valdez because of the defense. He's built like a running back and is just putting good exit velos up each night. Potential to play all 3 OF positions.
  5. Bello vs Canning
  6. His xFIP is a full run higher than his ERA. Let's see how it shakes out over the long haul. He also needed time off last year and many years before that.
  7. I think McGuire is good enough. Wong has been really great. McGuire is just the backup right now. The starters have flat out sucked. McGuire has done rather well with the bullpen. Seems like it's a pitching issue and not a catching one?
  8. A million bazillion percent...
  9. Kluber has had one good start with Wong and one good start with McGuire. I'm not hanging his faults on anyone but himself.
  10. McGuire has reverted in part due to a hand injury he's working through.
  11. Also, Lugo is NOT better than Valdez. Not even close. Hickey and Abreu should probably be closer to #10 than they are now as well.
  12. I'd put Valdez ahead of Walter.
  13. I think Valdez graduates fairly soon. He may graduate before he'd get into the top 10.
  14. Framing Throwing out runners Setting up the defense If all they had to do was hold a glove, Alfaro would be in MLB.
  15. If he wants to start, he needs to earn it and be able to turn the lineup over. The talk of him staying in the rotation, has always been just that - talk.
  16. Wong has a cannon and is limited SB's. McGuire got eaten alive by the O's in the opening series and has a bad arm. Seems like SB's have ticked down a little bit though? I think McGuire paid a price for the Sox coaching staff not being ready for the O's early on.
  17. For him to have that profile, the bat just really needs to play and can't take a step back. As a merely below average catcher, his bat is getting him to MLB no question. He's bad enough they may take away his catcher's mitt before next season.
  18. Ward's numbers would be much better than that in the WOO rotation probably.
  19. Casas would go down and just mash in AAA. He would learn nothing. It would be a waste. You have to keep him up here.
  20. Platooning is the Cora way.
  21. Story > Reyes Duvall > Tapia
  22. Houck is great through the first 9 batters. That's not really up for debate.
  23. Pivetta can throw a lot of innings and his xFIP shows that there should be some positive regression, but I think I'd rather have Houck in there and just make sure Cora pulls him after the second time through the order.
  24. I don't think it's a DFA yet. I think they try a phantom IL. Maybe another starter has an injury and Kluber comes back for round 2. If he isn't better, then we see a DFA. I like Crawford and Houck in the pen too. I wish there was a better option than Kluber/Pivetta as the 5th starter. If Walter had developed it would have been interesting to give him a shot, but that's definitely not the case right now. Drohan is not close to being ready this year at any point. Chris Murphy should be DFA'd to make space on the roster. Not sure there is another arm in the org right now that can help out for this slot.
  25. Why assume he'll continue to be good? He wasn't very good prior to 2022. He wasn't very good in April.
