Walter has been worse since hitting AAA and coming back from injury.
Robertson has shown that he can pitch well at AAA. Walter hasn’t, especially after his stuff ticking back since injury. Walter’s AA numbers are virtually meaningless to how he’ll pitch in BOS at the moment. His pitching at AAA is a better indicator.
Without the pitching prospect added in, the trade makes no sense. You can’t just go by prospect ranking and think it’s one for one. I agree that somebody like Drohan (top 10 prospect) would have to be added.
And if this offseason comes without changes to the rotation, there will be more and more bashing. And if the Sox aren't in the playoffs next season, there should be an entire nation wielding pitchforks.
He's in charge of the entire operation from MLB to DSL. Is the focus too much on farm building? Maybe! Should they be using some of the farm capital to help the MLB team? Probably! Have they had a very uneven track record putting together the MLB team? Yes.
