  1. His OPS was 888 on July 25th. So yeah, one bad month tanked him by your measure.
  2. Cora said Rafaela is going to start at SS today. We'll see...
  3. A lot of you guys got the knives out for him. He's been bad, but I'm surprised at how angry some of you are. Probably just bad timing as his slump coincides with the sinking ship.
  4. You gave him a D based on one bad month. No need to read any more than that.
  5. That's how you find out your CBO is a procrastinator.
  6. We already got the Rule 5 protection talk going!
  7. If he was claimed through waivers, he would have only needed to stay on the active roster through the end of the season and then for another 30-45 days next year and then you'd be able to option him. If he's selected again, he'd have to stay on the active roster for the entirety of 2024. There's just no way that he's getting selected.
  8. No, at his peak he was more valuable than Brandon Walter at 13. Aldo was given a much higher grade than ERC who is at 25. The 2021 top 10: Casas Downs Duran Whitlock Houck Jimenez Seabold - prior to him losing his changeup and falling down the rankings Ward - prior to him getting TJS Ramirez Yorke That's not a bad top 10 for what it is.
  9. Wong is ahead of him because he's a very good defensive catcher and catchers get a bigger bump in WAR for their defense than most other positions. LF and DH are an automatic penalty in the WAR calculation. It makes sense that he's behind Devers, Duvall, Turner, Casas and Duran as they've put up big offensive numbers this year, but Masa has been up and down. Verdugo's offensive WAR is lower than Yoshida's, but he's making up for it with outstanding RF defense which came after a very bad defensive season in 2022 (-5 DRS in RF last year).
  10. Ian Cundall from SoxProspects was at Greenville last night so it'll be interesting to hear what he has to say about Song's start. It's good that he was able to go 5 innings. I'm not going to get too excited about it because of the extreme lack of strike outs. @IanCundall Noah Song tonight in Greenville: 5 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 1 K. 71 p/37 s. FB, SL, CH, CB. Mostly FB 89-93 & SL 80-84. Delivery is a work in progress which is understandable given time off. Arm gets out of sync & inconsistent release point, but he executed when needed w/runners on. https://twitter.com/IanCundall/status/1696681957172658561 I'm glad that the Sox are giving him a chance to start again. He wasn't going to get that staying with the Phillies.
  11. Last 12 Innings: 2 K
  12. Lannin was a self made Canadian who brought Babe Ruth to the Sox and sold the team because he was “too much of a fan.” He was the prince that was promised. We need to resurrect him this spooky season.
  13. Lannin won a World Series in 2 out of 3 tries. Maybe dig that guys bones up?
  14. Duran is out for the year due to surgery?
  15. No, it’ll be some out of the box ******** that you will try to tie yourself in knots to justify at some point.
  16. And leave a bunch of room under the CBT. Also, if the Kluber money went to a decent pitcher…
  17. Wait, are we talking about Duran or Bernardino vaccines?
  18. He did at first, but was convinced to change his mind after missing the first TOR series.
  19. Sorry, best I can do is one starter and 3 DH’s! - Chaim
  20. Maybe he figured Rafaela needed a rest day?
  21. Yeah, having Story for a full year should probably make the biggest difference. How much time does Rafaela get in CF? That would help too.
  22. To answer your question, I think they bring back either Turner or Duvall, both of whom have 1B experience. I don't think they want Kavadas playing 1B at the MLB level. They usually grab some 28 year old AAAA 1B every offseason, so I'd expect them to do that as well.
  23. Dalbec will probably get called up the end of this year and we'll see him get a little bit of run. He's probably traded or released this offseason. It was a complete waste of a roster spot this season. Putting him at SS? LOL
  24. I think they pick one between Adam Duvall and Justin Turner and bring them back. Duvall can play 1B too. They also need to figure out the plan with Verdugo.
