  1. I don't get this reference. The only references I know are "the older the buck, the stiffer the horn" and "you old bastards got alot of nerve. You think my 1992 season should have won me the CY Young. You're out of your league pal." Honestly, if I had to redo my user name it would be a reference to Dick Radatz.
  2. If Trout is healthy, he's a 5 fWAR guy. I don't see Duran getting there, that's why I think Trout is the upside guy in this equation. Duran is cheaper, but I just have a lot of questions about him still. And he did also have a season ending injury last year!
  3. Hard to say. If they lose out on Ohtani, they won't have any franchise players left. They'll need to fill the ballpark somehow and it won't be with Anthony Rendon.
  4. Trout started getting injured once he turned 29. O'Neill started getting injured once he turned 27. And so it goes.
  5. O'Neill '22-'23: 0 DRS 1 OAA 98 wRC+ less games played than Trout
  6. And we are counting on Trevor Story to do what?
  7. The 2024 OF should be: Trout - LF Rafaela - CF Mookie - RF
  8. I don't think they will do it, but it's fun to talk about on here.
  9. I don't entirely believe Duran can repeat that production and I think Crawford is a dime a dozen pitcher. I came up with the salary I'd be willing to fork out and players I'd be willing to let go. Seems like Duran isn't a good fit in LF. Crawford is just ok. Swapping Trout for Duran is a big upside play for sure. I'm not sure the Angels would even accept that trade anyway. We see it as an overpay, they would see it as an underpay.
  10. A's have about 5 guys on their 40 man that could be droppable for a guy like Drohan IMO.
  11. Trout + 140M (Sox paying Trout to be a 2 fWAR guy for through 2030) for Duran Crawford
  12. He punched a cop in the desert which got him into visa trouble. Sounds like a dirt dog to me.
  13. Felger and Mazz were only good back when they could be the butt of the joke on the Big O show. Mazz is ok sometimes when talking about baseball on his own show. The two of them definitely play it up for the camera like WWE.
  14. The staying on the ML roster isn't a big deal as they can just return him if he sucks. It just depends on which org has room for him. If I was OAK, I'd take like 4 Rule 5 guys since they aren't planning on competing anyway.
  15. Hard to say. Ward was taken last year #1, but had a much longer history of success than Drohan. Drohan really only had 6 good AA starts before being promoted to AAA and sucking. I think he's 50/50 to be taken, but won't go top 5.
  16. There's no way. Maybe one? https://www.mlb.com/news/rule-5-draft-prospects-protected-on-40-man-rosters-2023?t=mlb-pipeline-coverage See if a guy like Kristian Robinson falls to them and make him the 5th OFer? Right handed Jarren Duran (Hudson Haskin)? Steal a DD guy (Carlos De La Cruz)? If they want a RH/1B/LF type guy, go for Heriberto Hernandez?
  17. They should have tried trading him!
  18. And some people on here were saying the CBO wouldn't have any say and would defer to Alex..........
  19. @JakeIggy Red Sox are listed as 1 of 8 teams looking to add multiple starting pitchers, per @JonHeyman Just because the names are available doesn't mean it'll be easy.
  20. If Cora was picking before, it sure didn't work!
  21. @alexspeier Source confirms that the Sox are indeed nearing an agreement with Andrew Bailey as pitching coach. Bailey and Craig Breslow spent five years as teammates with the A’s and Red Sox, and the two are extremely close.
  22. @egohii Giants ranks in FIP under Bailey 23: 4th 22: 2nd 21: 2nd 20: 15th
  23. @tylermilliken_ Late last night, Andrew Bailey was reported to be nearing a an agreement with the Red Sox to be their new pitching coach, per @Ken_Rosenthal . Since joining the Giants in 2020, he’s received a lot of credit alongside Brian Bannister for the pitching lab they’ve formulated. Kevin Gausman and Carlos Rodon got paid in a big way after huge seasons underneath him. Logan Webb has become one of the better pitchers in baseball. Speaks to his reputation that he got an interview for the Yankees bench coach opening. Gotta give him the right ingredients to work with, but he should have no problem instilling Craig Breslow’s vision at the big league level. Communication should be strong.
  24. I don't think this is true. They can clear additional spots prior to the draft. They just can't protect any additional players going forward.
