  1. Eovaldi specifically came back to the Sox after getting the TEX offer and Bloom said no.
  2. It's Cora's fault for not telling them this and for playing players that make outs.
  3. Look guys, if they win out, they'll get into the playoffs. They should just do that! Season back on!
  4. Thank you for agreeing with me.
  5. You expected MORE innings than he was able to provide TB last year?
  6. No, I figured it out. No issue with me!
  7. Wrong! Wouldn't higher comp picks and more draft pool money have made a difference if you're trying to rebuild a farm system?!?!?!??!?!?!?!?
  8. Even if Kluber worked out, the rotation still would have failed.
  9. So you're saying there's a chance.
  10. I don't remember any zealots who made it out to be a CY rotation. I think people said that the rotation had upside, which it did. It certainly also had a dumpster fire downside as noted previously.
  11. Henry told WEEI.com in an interview earlier this season he generally didn't believe in bringing managers or baseball operations personnel like Dombrowski into the final year of a contract. It was either extend Dombrowski beyond 2020 or cut bait – Henry chose the latter.
  12. Henry has stated in the past that it doesn't make sense to have a CBO going into a final year of a lame duck contract...
  13. You get a QO. And you get a QO!
  14. I'd strongly consider a move like that.
  15. It's both. He went over early and couldn't get back under when he had a chance to. If you're going to go over for one year, go over by 20M, not couch cushion change.
  16. Time to play the kids and sit anyone who is not part of the plans going forward.
  17. Not going to win many doubleheaders only scoring 3 runs.
  18. You do have to manage for there being two games in one day. It's all hands on deck at some point. Are you just going to throw all your good pitchers in game 1 and punt game 2?
  19. I'd have him top 30 somewhere.
  20. I think he's a solid mid-rotation guy. Sox don't have a great development process for the rotation, so they'll need to buy a few in the short term if they aren't going to trade for any (I know one poster that will disagree). Someway, somehow, they need 2 rotation guys that can give them good INNINGS.
  21. I don't agree. Per reports, he held onto JD in 2022 AND WENT OVER THE CBT LIKE AN IDIOT because he thought the return wasn't high enough. I think he has a value assigned to every player and he moves on if the trade or FA signing isn't exactly lining up. Sometimes you have to take a hit for the betterment of the ballclub. He should have dealt JD and other players no matter what to get under the CBT last year.
  22. I understand this sentence, but did have a serious concussion from a sledding accident back in high school where I lost half of a day. The "meat in the oven" may be an analogy that is not common to us, but is common to iortiz. I get what he's trying to say though.
  23. At that point, couldn't you just let the organization run itself. Bloom isn't really drafting or signing the IFA guys on his own. Maybe he has a say in the 1st or 2nd round, but beyond that it's scouting and guesswork. Couldn't BOH have done this for 5 years if they were going to punt? Did they just need a sacrificial lamb for a few years while they sucked before they promoted CIA plant BOH to CBO?
  24. I hopeful for the guys that are in AA right now too. I think this team should be good going forward, but it needs to be managed better. They need someone that can figure out how to build a rotation and Bloom hasn't been able to do that yet.
  25. The plan was "hey, I'm going to load up in the pen with some bulk guys and that should take care of the 4-5 innings guys in the rotation." Didn't work out. Sale - injury risk Paxton - injury risk, lack of use Whitlock - injury risk Kluber - older, previous injury, reduced velo Houck/Crawford - 4 inning guys Pivetta - 5th starter at best The upside was there for a good rotation, but the downside was what we got to see in 2023. Reaping. Sowing. Yada yada yada.
