  1. Disagree. Add a B and replace the R with a D and you get BLESSED. Sox could have a BLESSED Rotation.
  2. 40 man still includes: Jacques Llovera Robertson Weiss Hamilton That's 3 players I'd also DFA before moving on from Mata.
  3. Even if they overload their draft with shortstops, do they have the right infrastructure to develop IFA guys into SP's? I'm not sure.
  4. They need one of the top 5 guys. If they get shut out, I don't think fans will be happy even if they sign 2 lesser guys.
  5. It seems like some people are for some reason? IDK. He's a guy that plays with a lot of passion and heart. He's pretty fun to watch. I think he would grow on a lot of Sox fans. Yes, he's a guy that is terminally online and that's a growing problem for many players, but 95% of Sox fans wouldn't even know or care about it.
  6. I think they keep Mata until ST and see what he looks like. If he's terrible, they just DFA him. If he's really good, they put him on the roster. If he's ok, they try to sneak him through a DFA at the end of camp when there is a flurry of transactions and everyone is cutting down their rosters.
  7. No, nobody cares about minor league deals. Guys that take up 40 man roster spots are issues. Mills was on the 40 man at the start of last year. He won't be this season, but he has MLB upside when healthy. It's fine.
  8. Yes, the contract terms matter A LOT.
  9. All of these pitchers are a lot of teams targets. That's the problem with acquiring pitchers solely via FA and not being able to develop your own SP.
  10. The head case has had a much more productive career than Wacha.
  11. Stroman: 3.73 ERA, 3.64 xFIP, 275 INN Wacha: 3.27 ERA, 4.23 xFIP, 261 INN Similar over the past two years. That's Stroman at his worst (injured) and Wacha at his most productive. If you look at the past three years, it gets worse for Wacha.
  12. I'm a fan of Stroman, and he's just a more expensive and marginally healthier version of Wacha. It depends on what the contract is.
  13. It's fine. Your list is your list and not mine. I just don't like Dobbins' profile as he currently can't command anything. Paulino is already a platoon UTIL guy in A ball who had a lackluster '23. Yuck.
  14. And those AA numbers are great for Walter, but it's just a 9 game sample. If he was sent back to AA this year, I bet he couldn't repeat that performance from '22.
  15. Yup, they sometimes jump a little too high on SSS pitchers that are dominating at lower levels like Drohan and Walter. It's fun to jump on a bandwagon. With Drohan, I remembered what happened to Walter so I wanted to see him do it at AAA at least. It's a little weird because I do remember them talking down players like Denyi Reyes (back in 2018: 1.97 ERA, 155 IP, High A) for being pitchability guys, but they seemed to forget that when they jumped on the Walter train for whatever reason.
  16. For me, I wouldn't include Dobbins or Paulino. I just don't like their profiles at all. I'd put Drohan instead of Dobbins or Paez if Drohan is picked in Rule 5. (The projected Greenville Drive rotation is interesting: Perales, Monegro, ERC, Rogers, Duffy, Paez.) Instead of Paulino, I'd go with either Campbell or Yuten to back up OF (not counting Abreu).
  17. Don't really know much about Anderson and he didn't play all that well in the fall to show that he's going to move anywhere fast. Cespedes may move up the rankings quickly, but I don't think he's going to be strapped to a rocket. He'll probably start in FCL this year and maybe finish the year in Salem. Even Bleis didn't reach Salem until his second season stateside. With that push, we wouldn't see him in AA until the end of '25 and MLB at the end of '26.
  18. Walter was a pitchability guy who peaked in AA then got hurt. He needs to be near perfect for his stuff to play up in MLB. Wikelman and Monegro have better stuff and haven't really reached their full potential yet. I'm not sure either is a starter in MLB, but I think they both have higher ceilings than Walter ever did.
  19. @BeyondtheMnstr Free agent pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto reportedly wants to play on an MLB team with other Japanese players, per @Yahoo_JAPAN_PR Thank you, Chaim.
  20. My only recommendation is to go to the Liberty Tree Tavern and have the Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake.
  21. Haven't had a left handed throwing SS since 1987.
  22. Hanley made 72 errors from 06-08 at SS. He had a career -74 DRS, -8 UZR/150. He was NOT a good SS and probably never should have played there to begin with.
  23. I think people are just creatures of habit. Once you take someone out of their routine, they won't be as good as what they normally do.
