  1. List them.
  2. IFA (hard to grade as there is limited exposure above FCL for most of these guys): '21 - B+ Bleis helps this class out a lot '22 - B- Top 2 signings are busts, but Garcia, Alcantara and Yuten may stick around '23 - B+ Cespedes seems like a good little player Other moves: '20 - C- Betts and deadline trades (Pivetta) '21 - B- Whitlock and Schwarber '22 - D Over the CBT (Abreu/Valdez) '23 - D+ Turner/Jansen/Martin/Duvall were acceptable but ultimately not enough to move the needle, other moves were not great
  3. No, it's better that the Sox have really high ticket prices, it's a pain in the ass to go to games and ownership DOESN'T reinvest back into the product!
  4. It doesn't mean you stop drafting. They drafted Deven Marrero and Michael Chavis as SS's in the 1st round and that didn't stop them from drafting more SS's.
  5. The draft is part of the problem! It's not the only reason for the problem though. 1. They haven't typically drafted starting pitchers in the first 3 rounds in the past decade. When they have done so, they have been horrible. 2. They haven't used the other draft capital to acquire other starters to supplement the MLB rotation. 3. They haven't been able to turn their pitchability guys into anything more than org pitchers like Walter that won't impact an MLB rotation. 4. They haven't acquired high priced FA's to lead their MLB rotation when available.
  6. The whispers are just trying to keep the torches from burning too hot.
  7. Under Crag, we are in the post shortstop era. Now we are in the develop the best 5th man in the league era.
  8. I don't see him as a closer. He's really a middle reliever. He's fine. Probably this year's grass is greener candidate for some Sox fans.
  9. Because he was following an opener. That isn't the plan for 2024. Crag is trying to develop 12 starters instead. If you don't see the difference between a bulk reliever not being able to pick up 3-5 inning stints frequently with a normal rotation and a converted starter following a opener, I don't know what to tell you.
  10. Time will tell on Bloom's legacy, but if I was going to grade his drafts right now: '20 - B- short draft but overall the talent acquired was decent '21 - C+ aside from Mayer, the class is a little rough especially at the top '22 - C- aside from Anthony, the class is very rough missing on the 1st and 2nd pick '23 - B- Teel seems really good, unsure about the rest of the class right now
  11. He was at least competent when he started. Guys like Joe Jacques... Yuck!
  12. @tylermilliken_ Bradford Doolittle has the Red Sox as his #1 breakout team in 2024 based on his model, The Breakout Index. “Boston has had a combined record over .500 from all of its minor league teams in each of the three seasons since the 2020 pandemic season. Our system weighs these seasons in reverse order to reflect how prospects progress toward the majors. The Red Sox dovetail perfectly with a three-year winning percentage progression of .588, .529 and .502. The success of the Boston farm system is also reflected by consensus prospect rankings.” He compares them to the 2019 Twins. 13. 2023 got Klubered.
  14. Pens don't work like that anymore. Those opportunities are few and far between unless there is an opener.
  15. Ability to eat innings? He's thrown 160 innings once! If you extrapolate Houck's '23 to a full season, it comes out to 160 innings. They are the same pitcher.
  16. Crawford last year started in the rotation, was put into the pen for almost two months (only pitched over 3 innings or more in relief twice in that span! don't tell moon) and then needed 4 starts to get back to pitching 5 inning starts again. Probably should have just left him in the rotation.
  17. Maybe eat SOME more innings, but is it enough of an upgrade to throw out some prospects?
  18. @mlbtraderumors Collin McHugh Announces Retirement
  19. Bulk guys like that don't really exist anymore. When he was put back into the rotation, it took several turns for him to get back into the swing.
  20. I think the trade is fair for Boston. I'm just saying that I don't know if he's an upgrade over Houck especially when looking at last year's numbers and realizing the Sox have to give up a prospect to acquire him.
  21. They are currently at 190M and are probably going to spend 215M or less per what ownership has stated. Clevinger, Chapman and Duvall combined would be about 25-28M. Maybe they make a scenario like that work? IDK. Not geting my hopes up.
  22. No idea as I'm not a therapist. I think he probably believes a batter not being able to put the ball in play is the best option for a pitcher? The second best option would be for a batter to weakly put the ball in play, but if the defense sucks it may not help much.
  23. Urquidy is decent and I liked having him on my fantasy team back in 21/22. It's not that I'm all for whiffs (not simply k rate mind you) and velo, but that it's what Crag prefers. Why talk about pitchers that have profiles that don't fit what the FO like?
