  1. He traded a lot of prospects, but didn't do a great job of drafting and neither did Ben. The farm just slowly fell off from the Theo days. Even if Ben was here, it would have slowly taken a turn for the worse IMO.
  2. Dodgers are built to win today. 4 years from now?
  3. If Pomeranz flipped his 17 and 18 seasons, we'd probably feel differently about him.
  4. Romero is probably just a Jed Lowrie ceiling. Tradable. I'd trade Abreu too. Zanetello? He hasn't shown anything yet. Perales? Bye!
  5. Starting building this year for more spending next year? Will Henry go over the CBT again or will he stay under going forward? If he's willing to go over like other owners, no harm in getting the right guy on your pitching staff a year early.
  6. Rays Way with Bloom didn't work. Crag is looking to find the Sox version of Justin Steele.
  7. We were hopeful they had a chance. Sox have the room under the 2nd CBT line. Ownership is just being spendthrifty.
  8. For even higher AAV? No. They aren't going to compete this season so it seems like a little waste. If Henry is ok with going over the CBT in the next few years, then maybe.
  9. People were saying prior to the offseason that it was a great FA class for the Sox to need pitching. Is that not the case?
  10. The quantity hasn't given them too much in recent years. We'll see how things change under Crag.
  11. Yup. That's what happens if you have a #3 starter as your best pitcher.
  12. At the very least, Asencio is noted as "one of the most difficult hitters to strike out." Rosier is definitely not that. To me, it's just not a good comp.
  13. Would love to hear about it at a Town Hall type discussion.
  14. Seems like this year's IFA top money is going to 2 OFers, 3B, P and only 1 SS.
  15. Nice to project that for a 16 year old.
  16. "Buy low" so what kind of pitcher would the Sox get back exactly? Per BTV! Edward Cabrera Blackburn & Boyle Wicks Castillo Pepiot Ober/Varland Cole Granted, there's no chance some of those trades would happen (Castillo/Cole).
  17. Where the top 5 IFA Sox signings are on BA's top 100 for this year's class: 37. Vladimir Asencio, OF, Dominican Republic 54. Carlos Carrasquel, 3B, Venezuela 85. Edwin Brito, OF, Dominican Republic 89. Dalvinson Reyes, RHP, Dominican Republic 99. Anderson Fermin, SS/CF, Dominican Republic
  18. Fermin - 400K Reyes - 450K
  19. 0.01% chance he comes to Boston.
  20. Which is why other orgs wouldn't want to trade for Bleis right now.
  21. Bleis isn't going to bring much back coming off an injury year and being years away from making the MLB.
  22. Snell must have an offer he's sitting on larger than the Yanks. Mariners? Monty is looking to cash in on his career year and will hold out as long as it takes.
  23. @tylermilliken_ Vladimir Asencio is viewed as one of the toughest hitters to strikeout from the DR in this class. 5’10, 170 pounds. There’s a belief from evaluators he’ll grow into more power as he matures. Puts the ball in play. Still profiles in CF at the moment.
  24. Here is what BA has reported so far for IFA signings: Boston Red Sox ($5,925,000) Vladimir Asencio, OF, Dominican Republic Carlos Carrasquel, 3B, Venezuela (Potential breakout prospect) Edwin Brito, OF, Dominican Republic Dalvinson Reyes, RHP, Dominican Republic Anderson Fermin, SS/CF, Dominican Republic Justin Gonzalez, OF, Dominican Republic Tavano Baker, OF, Bahamas Juan Medina, RHP, Venezuela Edwin Darvile, SS, Bahamas Avinson Pinto, SS, Venezuela Tejahari Wilson, RHP, Bahamas Justim Sojo, SS, Venezuela
  25. @BenBadler Boston Red Sox signing Dominican outfielder Vladimir Asencio for $1 million
