  1. No, it was given to Arcia. Grissom filled in only when Arcia went down with injury early on in the season.
  2. The truth hurts sometimes.
  3. They were going to push him to LF!
  4. Maybe they can callup Nathan Hickey too.
  5. Big time disagree. Sale was on a HOF track before the injuries piled up. They were dealing a one year guy that they weren't going to keep around for a guy with control. Chris Sale reverted to his superstar form and is shoving this year.
  6. They should also callup Kavadas so they could have 4 LHB DH's.
  7. The risk they chose to go with was to pay Sale pitch well for the Braves and the guy they acquired underperform. That's what has happened so far. It can turn around after one throw from Sale. It can turn around after a few hot games from Grissom.
  8. Depends on when he needs injury rehab again.
  9. Cut his K rate in half and has a BABIP of 444. He looks good for now.
  10. You've wanted Devers at 1B since 2017. You'll get your wish, but it won't be in 2025.
  11. If he was good, Sox could spin him at the deadline and not eat a lot of salary if the Sox were out of it. Sox just wanted to cash out and get a CONTROL of a guy like Grissom. This is a Betts-lite trade.
  12. Ok? He's never been a big HR guy though?
  13. Braves also jumped at the chance for an extension. They are closer to competing so risking $$$ on Sale makes more sense for them.
  14. Why move Devers off position for a guy that can't even stay on the field?
  15. The word was "he's finally healthy and going to have a full Spring Training." We had heard that song and dance before though.
  16. Are you looking to change his swing? It's only been 13 games. I think it's such a SSS issue right now that we should just ignore it. He only had 8 HR's in AAA last year. Not sure he's a launch angle guy? Maybe just gap to gap?
  17. They figured out the OF, but the MIF is still a big question mark with Trevor Story stuck in there. IMO, just push Story to a backup role or at least plan on him being the parttime player. He has no trade value and if he's healthy, he provides more to the Sox if he sticks around.
  18. It's fair to not like this trade. Sox may have not done well with their evaluation of Grissom. Cora had stated that Sale was the Opening Day starter for 2024. It was basically punting on the season to get control of a young MIFer, which I thought the Sox already had a bunch in the pipeline. Why not unload Sale for an arm if anything? Maybe this was the only thing they could get for the oft injured Sale?
  19. Tyler O'Neilll: 11 HR, 932 OPS
  20. @redsoxstats Grissom has a .171 BABIP so far. He's 1 for 11 on hard hit balls, including 2 line outs today. Obviously it's a slow start after no spring training, but add in some small sample ridiculousness around his debut, and it's just an amplified annoying stretch.
  21. Considering all of the pitching injuries, unless the deal is below market or the guy is an absolute stud, I probably go year to year with pitchers too.
  22. At SS: -3 DRS, -5 OAA They are doing a disservice to him right now IMO. However, I was told that he was going to be able to figure out MLB pitching at some point because that's how it's been for him at every level. I just don't see it right now.
  23. Whereas allocating 9M on a preARB guy doesn't make a lot of sense if the guy isn't dominating because he should be pulling in 8M less. Where is the cost savings on these two contracts? Bello and Rafaela will have to turn it on considerably to outpace what they would have received in ARB and the first year or two in FA IMO.
  24. I agree that I like the idea of extensions, but the merit of these two extensions are certainly up for debate.
  25. He's only played 64 games in Salem. He still only has a 733 OPS, but he's reduced the k's and increased the bb's. Just not showing much in game power right now and the BABIP is a little lower than you'd expect from all the linedrives he hits. They bumped Roman up last year because he was rocking a 19% bb rate and being too patient. That's not quite parallel to what Bleis is doing. Probably a midseason callup late June early July.
