  1. With Catchers over 400 PA's from 2023-24, Wong ranks 36th in fWAR. If we only care about his bat, his wRC+ ranks 24th. His DRS ranks 61st!
  2. He just had TJS. Why would he get it right after?
  3. If you can get him on a MiLB rehab deal, why not?
  4. I'd rather Christian Walker. Good offense and good defense at 1B. Should be much cheaper than those two as well.
  5. You have to give something to get something, and I think that sums up this trade perfectly. I agree with this sentiment. I may not be a huge believer in Crochet, but I think the trade felt like the right amount in retrospect. It felt like a lot, but didn't feel like it was a complete dog of a trade. The initial trade mentioned a few weeks ago was Casas instead of Teel and that would have been too much IMO. As long as they find a way to fix the Catching position, I'm good with it. Montgomery is just a huge question mark. Big arm and big power, but it may not really translate. He has a nice ceiling, but we all know not every player gets there.
  6. No they clearly have a fetish for it. They just can't help themselves.
  7. Most Red Sox fans are idiots and not titans of business like me. 💸🏢🛥️💃
  8. So far, the Sox payroll is still LOWER than last year. It remains to be seen where it ends up. I highly doubt it gets close to the 2nd CBT threshold where some people were starting to project it.
  9. With the CBT in place, the Red Sox could certainly outspend the Yankees. They've done so many times. This isn't 1999.
  10. Means had a pretty decent run from 19-21, but ended up giving up a lot of HR's. If he's cheap, I don't see the harm in finding more depth for the back of the rotation. Sox haven't been great at developing starting pitching so they need all the help they can get.
  11. He already had a UCL tear, so he may be good for 1,000 innings or so.
  12. Did they make the postseason last year? I was also higher on them than you from what I remember.
  13. 119 wRC+ last September 4 WAR season this year for Story
  14. Mayer 3B Story SS Campbell 2B Christian Walker 1B Trade Casas for pitching. Raffy is DH.
  15. You can thank Bloom for that. We'll see if Breslow is able to continue to add. There are high hopes for Tolle.
  16. I'm not sure they are going to really sign Bregman to move him around the IF. He hasn't played SS the past 5 seasons and he's a career -5 OAA at the position in about 100 games from when he was MUCH younger. 2B? It doesn't make sense with Campbell and Mayer in the pipeline. 3B makes sense if you're going to move Raffy to 1B/DH.
  17. It'd be an interesting conversation if he was 3 years younger. Unfortunately, this contract will only include 1-2 prime Bregman seasons before he regresses. We've already heard that there is an internal conflict over Bregman between Breslow and Cora/Sam. My guess is that Breslow would rather use the $ to be spent on Bregman on pitching. I agree. Sox still have two MIF guys on the cusp of helping out. I don't know why they'd anchor themselves to more aging players the way they did with Story and Masa.
