  1. I agree that it's impossible to say. It's interesting that Jeter was a better defender earlier in his career and in 2009 when they won a few WS. I think it's better baseball to have your best defender play SS, but I understand why they had Jeter stay at SS. You don't know the butterfly effect of moving him off SS. Maybe he pouts and it tanks the franchise and he gets traded?
  2. It's been 24 hours? He went a whole day without an interview? My stars!?!?!?!
  3. Per the gamethreads, it's the umpires a lot of times... 👎
  4. 100% On Cora's yoga comments: I think his comments aren't out of thin air. I think he was just explaining why it rubbed veteran players the wrong way and why Casas' perceived attitude doesn't really fit with the typical MLBer. I think the older players who are all about "doing things the right way" are going to have to learn to adjust and come around on younger players like Casas like they have always had to. On Cora's injury comments: I think this was really directed towards Casas' pain tolerance and that there was a perception by the Red Sox, not just Cora, that Casas should have been able to be back a little sooner and play through some of the pain.
  5. Casas just doesn't give a crap. He's always going to say whatever is on his mind. I think his teammates realize that now and either "get it" or tune him out.
  6. Bregman said in an interview on Section 10 that the players and team haven't even discussed it. Right now, they are just out there practicing and it's not a big deal. Bregman said he just wants to win and doesn't care where he plays. Ultimately, it will be up to Cora, which means Devers will probably need to show in ST that he's able to field the position.
  7. Once they had a better SS in ARod, it made sense to move Jeter to 3b or 2b. After they got ARod, they only won one other WS after winning 4 previously. Jeter was a decent SS in his early 20's per the metrics. His first bad season wasn't until 2000. So the Yankees won 3 WS when Jeter was a "good" SS (3 in 4 years) and two when he was a "bad" SS (2 in 15 years). However, he had a good defensive season out of nowhere in 2009 (3 DRS) so maybe his good defense helped propel them to a title that season. If ARod's better defense had been at SS from 2004 on, maybe they win a few more?
  8. Yes. You're getting the Air Bud comments because he won the World Series MVP.
  9. Unfortunately, I didn't hoard my old issues and a google search didn't help.
  10. Primary doesn't mean 162 games, moon.
  11. ME THINK, WHY WASTE TIME SAY LOT WORD, WHEN FEW WORD DO TRICK. 🧐
  12. Honestly, I couldn't care less about beat writers going forward and them trying to gin up stories. Hounding baseball players isn't journalism. It's just TMZ/National Enquirer muckraking. Could probably get a better quote from Bat Boy and the Weekly World News than reading anything Cotillo has done in his whole career.
  13. I get the conversation about the roster manipulations. However, most of the handwringing now is about Raffy and Cora's comments.
  14. He's not officially in charge yet, I believe. That's not until next offseason.
  15. It'll be interesting to see if the hitting coordinators can do a reverse Campbell and fix Will Turner. Will spent some time at AL trying to change his contact style swing to add power and saw his stock plummet. Can the Sox get his contact swing back?
  16. It was a story on Monday a non-issue in camp on Tuesday. Day three, it's just a talking point that everyone else is running with. Seems to not have any traction within the clubhouse.
  17. Ok, he said it multiple times and you believe him?!?!??!?!?!?
  18. Bloom always seemed to try to find low upside guys off the waiver wire and hope to hit on 1 out of 10 or so. Breslow’s approach (building pitching system top to bottom and adding known commodities at MLB level) helps the BOS team be more competitive year after year IMO.
  19. Also, nice to hear that you’ll be doing these more frequently.
  20. I think there’s a much better chance the Sox win the division now, but I still think it’s not the most likely scenario. WC 65% Division 20% No playoffs 15% I’d also have Crochet as the #1 in the rotation above Cease, but both have the potential to be an “ace.” We have a long tradition here of wearing out what the definition is of an ace and how many aces there are in the league, so many of us have adopted other terms to avoid the argument altogether.
