  1. The thread was for the TalkSox podcast, if you had bothered to read it. It wasn't a thread for "who plays third base" or whatever. My suggestion for you is to stop being absolutely miserable about everything to everyone on here.
  2. He's definitely sticking with a SLG first approach and 2B only profile I guess!
  3. And you had the audacity to post a beating a dead horse jpeg? None of this is news. The Casas trade rumors are months old. The Devers stuff is weeks old at this point. Do you have anything else to talk about?
  4. From his scouting report on SP: Highest-variance prospect in the system with a wide range of potential outcomes. Really struggled in 2024 after a promotion to Greenville where he looked overmatched at times at the plate. Injuries have slowed down development considerably as he missed most of 2023 with a shoulder injury and had several short injury/health-related absences in 2024 that led to roughly 20 games missed. At his best, will check all the boxes you look for in a prospect his age, and if he reaches his potential, all five tools could grade at least as average, but his highest variance tool is his hit tool, which makes him extremely risky. Swing easily gets out of sync and has not translated to on-field production since 2022. He's one of those five tool prospects that may never sniff MLB IMO. I'd consider trading him before he has another lackluster season and becomes a "remember that guy" guy. 2023 SAL 607 OPS 2024 SAL 747 OPS 2024 GRE 584 OPS Aside from '22 in FCL, he hasn't done much to impress on the field.
  5. 2021 IFA for Bleis. Romero was drafted in 2022.
  6. It's saving innings on Houck, Crochet, Giolito, et al and keeping them fresher for the end of the season and potentially the postseason. Would it work? Nobody knows! I think a 6 man rotation wouldn't solve the current issues with pitcher injuries. Maybe it could solve fatigue problems? I really can't say for sure because I've never played professionally.
  7. Does Bregman have options?!?!?!?
  8. I think the Angels used it when they had Ohtani. Aside from that, it's been only used sparingly. If the Sox had the horses for it, sure. Now? Nah.
  9. Stock may not even make the AAA squad. What are we worried about?
  10. They aren't going with a 6 man rotation if they don't have big league arms. The guys they brought in for the pen are pitching like dog s***. Everyone wants Winckowski sent to Siberia and endlessly complain about Wilson, Stock, et al. Taking an arm out of the pen is going to make that group even worse.
  11. Mayer isn't on the 40 man. Don't need to dump him yet. DFA Bregman. Toro is a 2B/3B guy. Bregman is just in his way.
  12. Adding a sixth man to the rotation wasn't going to stop the immovable object Garrett Whitlock from the unstoppable force Getting Injured. Bello missed time early in '23, early in '24 and is slow to get ready in '25. This seems like a Bello problem. They can add a sixth man, but it's not going to prevent pitchers from getting hurt in the short term. It would only prevent them from wearing down in the long run, but would provide a much greater tax on the bullpen especially if the guys that are being added are unknown commodities like Fitts or Priester.
  13. The starting pitching was 3rd in fWAR through May 31st and 2nd through April 30th. The rotation was fantastic early on.
  14. I think bench spots can be up for grabs too. We've seen guys like Chang, Tapia, Arauz and others make the team in part due to Spring Training.
  15. This guy's pitch mix is interesting enough that I think he could rise pretty fast in the org the way Early did. He's being developed as a starter, but may end up moving to closer at some point.
  16. In general, what are your thoughts on Spring Training results. Can they turn a suspect into a real player?
  17. Not if the 60IL guy is injured.
  18. If they DFA Masa, they are punting on Japanese FAs for the foreseeable future.
  19. Of the 10, the only one I can take much out of right now is Richard Fitts. Him blowing gas seems really great. I just hope that the velo stays and that there are no adverse affects like we've seen with other pitchers who have started to max out and then miss 18 months.
  20. His HR numbers won't improve at Fenway in comparison to Minute Maid. His hits and doubles may though if you go by Statcast park factors and what Statcast says about his career HR projections at Fenway.
  21. Small sample size. I need to see him lay off pitches OOZ for a few months in the season before I'm a believer. Two weeks of Spring Training is meaningless to me.
