  1. I like Casas and is personality. I just want him to stop having so many backwards k's.
  2. Bregman is another SSS alert xBA 307, xSLG 578, xWOBACON 486, Launch Angle - Sweet Spot % 46.2, exit velo 95.9, hard hit 53.8% He's looked fine to me.
  3. Trevor Story's bat speed is UP and his k rate is DOWN! He's swinging at pitches in the zone (87%) and not whiffing (20.6%). If anything, Story is the SSS alert.
  4. The giveaway was the one sleeve and the gloves in the back pocket.
  5. Starting with '21 in COL, Story's chase rate has been above 30%. Prior to that, it was about league average. Bad signing by Bloom. Still hoping he can turn it around. It took him a little while in '22 to get going. Not worried about Bregman. He doesn't have big power, but doesn't need to. Agree about Casas. He'd rather go down looking at strike 3 and pat himself on the back for being right about a call than protecting the plate.
  6. That means we're getting lots of the mustachioed Romy Gonzalez!
  7. Pumped and jacked. Finally back to AL East baseball. Wilyer getting the day off. I haven't heard anything else about the lineup. Good luck to Brockton's own Sean Newcomb! https://www.baseball-reference.com/previews/2025/BAL202503310.shtml https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/preview?game_pk=778512&game_date=2025-3-31 https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/gamefeed?gamePk=778512
  8. What mechanics are out of sync, aside from his stance being more extreme? I'm not a hitting coach, but typically when stuff like bat speed and pitching velo is down, there are underlying concerns that are usually health related.
  9. They added Bregman this year and he's a lower k% guy. Narvaez k's a lot, but also bb's a lot if you go by his AAA numbers. Not enough of a track record on Campbell/Mayer/Anthony to really know, but they seem to at least be league average k guys. Masa needs some at bats...
  10. For people that need to visualize it, the dark green is this season's bat swing.
  11. His bat speed is down. Now it's 30th percentile, down from 60th percentile last season.
  12. K% '25 5th highest '24 3rd '23 19th '22 17th Is it organizational philosophy or team makeup? It wasn't that long ago when they were ok at not k'ing all game long. It's been brutal since the start of last season.
  13. Reading comprehension. The SS platoon they used last year had a 108 wRC+. The expectations are that Story can't do that. If those are really the expectations, the Sox should have moved on from him already. That is clearly not my belief. I think he should be better than last year, but this article posits that he won't be.
  14. Or we can just go with Paplebum's theory: Devers is fat. “Maybe he’s out of shape,” Papelbon said. “Maybe we gotta trim a little bit of fat, Jim. You know what happens when you trim fat?” “Well, we know they’re not in hitting shape, right? Because they’re not hitting. OK,” Rice replied. “We’re talking about trimming fat. What happens?” “Pigs squeal,” Papelbon answered. “I’m just saying, you trim fat, pigs squeal,” Papelbon repeated. “That’s what you’re looking for, your pigs to squeal. And hit home runs. But is it the shoulders? Is he in shape? We don’t know these things. But to me, it looks like the swing is just a little bit behind.”
  15. If the Red Sox proposed a bat change, you know it would have been turned down.
  16. Some people believe DH is playing a part of it. IDK. Maybe? Take a call from Papi or whoever. I think the Sox looked fine enough. Aside from the top of the order starting slow, there was mostly good stuff to look forward to. Campbell and Wilyer both played well (even thought people wanted to crap all over Campbell after one game in typical fashion). Wong's arm looks healthy. Narvaez looks good behind the plate. Bregman is solid. The bullpen pitched well.
  17. If Story is going to be worse offensively than a platoon of Romy/Hamilton, it's time to DFA. I think he should be better. Will he be? Right now, it's hard for me to just say "Devers will figure it out" when he's been dreadful since the shoulder issues started last August. He's a great hitter WHEN HEALTHY. I just don't know if he's able to play at his normal level. If he is healthy, then he should figure it out. However, I'm going to remain skeptical about anything concerning Devers' health until he's shown that he's feeling great and is really swinging it.
  18. Always looking for a fight, aren't you... 🫣
  19. Sox being 1-3 isn't the end of the world. I'm not worried about it. I'm worried about the health of Devers' shoulder considering they let him play through it last season and let Crawford play through a knee issue last season that now has Crawford on the IL. Raffy has had rough stretches before, but he's never looked this bad. Something is up.
  20. The certifiable way to show that you don't have an argument is to just run with a dumb nickname.
  21. Them allowing him to have such an extreme stance and then looking so brutal is not great!
