If Flores and Devers are both in the lineup, they are putting Flores at 1b (career 6 DRS). Even Dom Smith is a career 1 DRS. I don't think the Giants could count on Devers being an average 1b if he's never played there before.
The also were looking into Arenado. You frame it as "we're looking to upgrade everywhere. We may get a 3b and need you to move DH if they have a great glove. We may get a 1B and need to move Triston instead. We're just trying to put the best ballclub on the field."
Sam explained last night in the press conference that he was mistaken about that and should not have said that. He admitted he had no idea what he was talking about and just said it because he saw Raffy taking infield on NESN monitors and didn't talk to anyone about it.
Sure, but he ONLY played SS in 2004. He needed another offseason to be convinced of his declining skills. The reason he didn't play more SS was because of his constant injuries.
I just had a better idea after I hit "submit reply." Oh well. It wouldn't have happened if I wrote for an additional 1,000 words like some of our friends on here.
I don't care that he wasn't running. I care that he was OPSing 1000 like I said in my last post. If he plays 1b for the Giants, it'll be because he has a better relationship with that FO. Posey probably knows how to communicate with his team.
A guy that would sell a lot of jerseys? Yes! A guy you could put in a commercial? Yes! A guy that is going to make a big speech or be in front of the media all the time? Doesn't seem like it! He was never that guy before. A bigger paycheck doesn't just change the personality of the man.
