Since '21, Ryan has a better k rate, bb rate, ERA, xFIP, WHIP, xBA, xSLG, whiffs, chase rate. Aside from Keller's better barrel rate and better health, what else has he been better at? I'm not noticing it at first glance.
Sprague has been good.
Bouchard drafted with TJS, has not pitched
Tolbert got TJS in March '25
Tygart had a shoulder injury in April and may be out for the year
Brooks, Gartrell, Kilander and Hansen have all been underwhelming to say the least. I don't know what to really expect though. Every once in a while, you'll get a Kutter Crawford, but the picks are just a shot in the dark the further you go along. After round 10, the success rate is pretty abysmal even in the Bloom/DD/Ben/Theo days.
I think his contract is a good deal. I think it potentially decreases his trade value to some teams, especially now that he's swooning in AAA.
This is different than my feeling on Bello and Rafaela. I've always said that Bello's deal was fine. I've always said that Rafaela's deal was unnecessary and may be proven wrong.
You'd be able to tell from views, but were a lot of people going to the frontpage to see the picks? I wasn't really seeing the updates on BlueSky where a lot of other things get pushed so wasn't really sure when new things would be posted.
Romero is a good trade fit for some clubs. He is MIF with a lot of power. He doesn't have a clear path here and is closer to MLB (and Rule 5 issues) than others in the MIF pipeline.
We're ok with dealing from prospects that are far away, but I think other teams aren't heavy into acquiring them unless it's as part of a package. There's just so much variance with those guys that's it's not worth it to teams that are actually trying to compete to give up MLB talent for them.
I wonder how likely it is that they'd deal Perales considering his roster issues going into '26?
And yet this is a team that had BLAKE SABOL as the third string catcher. We saw him play for the Boston Red Sox this season. He was the worst defensive catcher I have seen in a very long time. Worse than Alfaro. It made me feel bad for ever being upset at Josh Bard. That's how bad Sabol was at catcher. If Sabol had to catch Wakefield, it would have been the first MLB game to ever end by mercy rule.
I think the Sox want to utilize the farm for trades and call ups. I think some posters don't see any value in the farm except for trades (SUSPECTS!). A big reason you want to have starters be young guys you call up from AAA is that they cost very little and/or have no long term commitment for 6-7 years.
If the Sox could deal from the farm to get a guy like Ryan and keep the MLB team rolling for the next 5 years, they'd do it. I just don't know if they have the ponies on the farm at the moment. The farm is taking a bit of a step back now that Mayer and Anthony are graduating. It's why I saw a story this morning that the Sox are more likely to get a lower end guy like Heaney/Galen that would cost a lot less and have a lower ceiling.
A New Haven style pizza place opened up down here a few years ago. The pizza was pretty good. It was always relatively busy, but nothing crazy. The front of house staff was just unable to deal with take out orders because they never ran a restaurant so they became a dine in only spot. I don't think they did so well with that model, because they've revamped again and tried to become an upscale date night place for boomers with a different menu. Leave the tri-state BS up North please.
