  1. So overpay for average players to fill out the bottom of the lineup where the Sox still have holes? I don't see what the big deal is. They overpaid for a starter that has an extensive history of not staying healthy and he probably won't be helping them in the playoffs anyway.
  2. B+ for '25 offseason A- for extensions D for in season moves
  3. The difference maker could have been "playoff appearance vs World Series Championship" though.
  4. I guess a 1571 OPS in the playoffs means nothing now? 😮‍💨
  5. Significant changes to umpiring may need to be approved by the union, so it's not entirely unrelated. I'm not sure Manfred could force it or even wants to. I think they are happy with the AAA challenge system as they use MiLB as a testing ground for their nonsense. Full robo isn't a reasonable expectation anytime soon. The NFL lockout is related because you said nobody would care if MLB umps went on strike.
  6. For sure.
  7. Well you should have agreed with me in real time then. Easy mistake.
  8. President Notin, a second staffer has just been fired by Breslow...
  9. I'll take Roman.
  10. It was certainly a mediocre team. It was a boring team. We weren't forced to watch the 2020 Red Sox for full seasons in '22-24. The teams were still competitive near each deadline. You can't say that for a true last place team.
  11. Not built like a brick house. Not even close.
  12. If all the MLB umps disappear and a replaced willy nilly, there will be problems that you don't forsee just because you have a bone to pick about the k zone that is shown on your tv.
  13. It wasn't realistic. Sox went back and forth with the Twins, even offering Tolle plus a bunch of other guys right up to the end, but the Twins kept saying it wasn't enough. Twins were just stringing them along. Brezzz was just wasting his time with that one.
  14. Sprint Speed: Wood 27.9 Anthony 27.8 Is raw athleticism just a euphemism for bad defense?
  15. Career -11 OAA at age 23 says he's probably destined for DH sooner than later.
  16. I figured you would have remembered the Golden Tate game and even the criticism of the refs leading up to that game. They had to pull a ref from a game for being a Saints fan. There were a few errors in weeks 1 and 2, but an absolute litany of awfulness from the refs in week 3. That week Goodell had to acknowledge the backlash and he lifted the lockout so that union refs could work that Thursday telling fans that they deserve better than games being officiated by replacements.
  17. Yophery is a low power, corner outfielder. Not a lot of upside IMO. Sandlin seems headed for the pen or out of the system. I'm out on Cespedes. He's a short DH that isn't hitting. Anderson is a guy who really needed to be at Lowell last season. He's still young and may progress slowly through the system, but hard to see him having a very high ceiling. Cason is an unknown right now.
  18. You don't remember the NFL referee strike I guess.
  19. He's a 23 year old DH. It's not a profile you can project to last as long as Roman's.
  20. One of the obvious needs was the right side of the IF. Could fill a hole there for a lot cheaper than a TOTR guy. Ryan wasn't a realistic target.
  21. Sox needed a 1b AND a 2b. Maybe they could have worked out a Lowe/Nunez deal from the Nats at the deadline?
