    I'd just like more than "keep the Sox in the game." How about a week where they don't burn through the bullpen? I think some people don't realize the ancillary damage of having a rotation that can't go deep into a game.

    I guess? Lackey supporters will say he pitched well. I just think SP's need to get a little further in the game. We shouldn't have to use a middle reliever every game.

    B's have a solid regular season. Timmy comes back to earth in the playoffs and a few pucks bounce the wrong way. Lose in 2nd round.

    Just because it's 9/11, my mind isn't changed about Lackey's performance. The point remains that if his life is affecting his performance that dramatically, he should have just went on Sabbatical. Take the year off. No one would fault him for it. No one is being heartless. No one has ever said "suck it up and forget about your problems." Just saying that his performance has been dreadful this year.

    The only real underachiever is Lackey. Everyone else is just about where they've been for their careers. The problem is more a lack of overachieving.

    A700, Since I was under 2 years old at the time, how did the Sox fall apart in 78? Bad pitching? Lack of offense? I know all about the Mike Bleeping Torres game, but don't know too much about what happened in the games leading up to game 163.

    New rotation: Lester, Becks, Bedard, Atchison, Pedro Martinez (fresh for playoff run).

    Lackey, you aren't allowed to pitch in the playoffs. 3 man rotation. 2 if Becks stays injured. 1 if Bedard does too.

    If Buch doesn't get injured, Sox run away with the division. Right now, these games are just practice for the playoffs. Hope Becks comes back ok and Bedard can pitch well in Oct. If they could get an 04 Bronson Arroyo playoff performance from Buch, we could see another duck boat parade. The next two weeks are meaningless.
