  1. It was one innocuous joke. If you don't understand the difference between that and your constant drum beating of "Varitek and Wake are coming" then I don't know what to say. It seems your comments were more chicken little than Paul Revere. No one attacked you for not liking players, people complained because you questionned other posters as polyannas and made 100's of posts about FracoMa and boy blunder and Ben the boob without adding to the discussion. And who is piling on Schill? One joke post? Really? Were you calling for Millar's head a few years ago? Mirabelli's? You bring some good posts to the table and have lots of baseball knowledge, but it would serve you better to just relax a bit. Don't get so worked up. It's not worth it. This should be enjoyable, but you always seem pissed off.
  2. What team has 11-12 solid pitchers? Most have 2-3 garbage pitchers. Worrying about Bowden or Albers seems like a waste of energy to me. Miller is hurt, Padilla is hurt, Morales is hurt, but let's just cut Bowden and Albers for the hell of it. That's just being silly.
  3. Padilla can't stay healthy for a whole season. Long term, he's not the answer.
  4. Whether it was first used in 86 or 01, it doesn't change my point. In the 90's you never heard that term. It's been something that the new ownership has pushed and pushed and pushed. If it means something to other fans, great. I'm not the Lorax, I don't speak for them, just myself.
  5. Raises hand (see pg 494 of the off season thread). I just think the term is a marketing gimmick. Do people hate Sox fans? Sure, but just as many people hate Yankees fans. Cubs fans hate Cardinals fans. People hate success they aren't a part of. People hate it even more when there's an overflowing bandwagon. My allegiance is to the Sox, not to "magical" Fenway or some silly made up nation. My fanhood is very personal to me and can't be defined by some marketing wet dream. For me, the term RSN represents the new ownership group, not the fans we all know. If people want to claim it as a badge of honor, go for it. The us against the world theme has no meaning to my life. I don't consider myself a part of it.
  6. Of course you can make up the bloody sock game, Schill did...
  7. It's spring training. The plan all along was to have him pitch innings 5-8. It's not like he wasn't prepared to pitch.
  8. I'll be in LA next month. Probably a week in LA and then a few days in SF. I don't have a jersey because $200 for a nice Jim Rice jersey sounds steep. My dream jersey would be an 80's road Rice uni. It's been on my xmas list the past few years. They had game worn jerseys at last year's Xmas at Fenway, but the sizes were way too big for me.
  9. 35 years Was born into it Ortiz Rice Canseco MA Pedro in relief against the Guardians in 99 85 against the Mariners, Oil Can was pitching Clemens/Boggs I have never owned a Sox jersey, but my 3 month old son has one
  10. He had a really rough 2nd inning last time out.
  11. He's throwing too many pitches. Won't go long in games with 70+ through 4.
  12. The YES presentation is horrible.
  13. Your boy just hit a walkoff. Thanks to a sick kid, I got to see it.
  14. Even if they did allow it, there's no way fans would fill the ballpark for another team. Also, taking the Sox out of Boston would be the dumbest thing ever. They should build a new park in Boston. Have minor league teams play throughout the summer. Schedule one series for each AL East rival to be played at Fenway every year.
  15. I've never said I speak for anyone but myself. It's my opinion. I love Fenway, but it's time for something better. It's a moot point because Fenway will still be here in 10-15 years. Someday, I'll take MVP Jr to his first game at Fenway. It will be one of the best days of my life.
  16. "Hi, I'm from MN/CA/FL/Canada, you're not allowed to tear down Fenway." My contention is that people still see it as a "magical" vacation destination like Disneyland. Once you've had season tickets/passes, the so called magic wears off. For all the "renovations" they've done, the RF seats are still an abomination. Personally, most of the renovations feel like putting a rice rocket wing onto a Model T. Fans deserve a better place to see a game. Funny how Dodger stadium built in the 60's, is still light years ahead of Fenway, even with all the renovations. It's not a good place to watch a game and it has nothing to do with seat size though.
  17. Which was taken out in 99.
  18. Rays aren't better. Moore is unproven. Luke Scott and Carlos Pena aren't huge upgrades. Tigers aren't better. They're just replacing VMart with Fielder. How would you suggest they fill the hole in LF? Eat CC's contract? Probably a better idea to sit and wait for him to have a career average year.
  19. These old school O's hats are awesome...
  20. No one has advocated that.
