  1. Don't care. That clubhouse died last year. Time to start anew. The book doesn't bother me in the least thanks to the mudslinging the FO did after he was fired.
  2. I'll still hope for the best for him, but he has a long way to go before anyone can consider him a legitimate factor for this team.
  3. Per Rob Bradford: According to a major league source, Red Sox outfielder Ryan Kalish is likely to undergo surgery for an unspecified ailment, forcing the outfielder to miss spring training. The injury is not to Kalish’s neck, which was one of the issues he dealt with throughout the 2012 season. Kalish underwent two separate surgeries last offseason, both both a bulging disk in his neck and a torn labrum in his shoulder. He didn’t begin participate in minor league games until May 26, ultimately appearing in 36 games with the Red Sox. The possibility of surgery was first reported by Matthew Stucko of Minor League Baseball’s official Web site (via Twitter).
  4. Hurt himself playing ultimate frisbee, I guess...
  5. Maybe on the timing of the announcement, but they have been talking about bringing him back all offseason. It also gives them even more headway into the DR where he's loved...
  6. Best hitter in ST? Wrong again. He was 4th in OPS behind Cody Ross, Pedro Ciriaco and Darnell MacDonald. He went to AAA and didn't perform. How is that on the Sox.
  7. Ok. Smoak's eniter pro career - 71 hr's since 08 (47 in MLB ) Lars' entire pro career - 74 hr's since 07 (0 in MLB ) So how does Smoak have less power than Lars?
  8. Smoak had twice that number playing at Safeco half the time...
  9. I did, he hit 9 hr's last year... in AAA.
  10. Smoak has no power, but Lars does?

    Uptons

That is until BJ writes "f*** face" on the knob of his bat for his 2013 Topps Heritage card...
  12. Dempster in the AL, Lackey after TJS, and Dubront after a substantial jump in innings... Is it "very likely" that they'll be league average? It seems to me there is a good chance that at least 2 of those guys perform worse than expected.
  13. I'd say "mostly" not all. If they pitch great, but the remaining guys pitch like Aaron Cooke, they're toast.
  14. Marcum averaged 166 innings over the previous 5 years. He's far from a sure thing if you're looking for 200 innings, a mark he's only reached once.
  15. The rotation kinda sucks. My point was that Marcum wouldn't make it much better. The Sox were at their best when they had Beckett rolling. Dempster and Marcum wouldn't provide that.
  16. You take your "facts" and go elsewhere. Real analysis isn't allowed in these parts, bub...
  17. C'mon, at least reserve "epic fail" for something of importance. Adding a better option at the bottom of the rotation does not put them over the top. Marcum would've been a nice addition, but it's not like that move would make them a contender.
  18. That is also a choice. Though it seems like a more unlikely choice right now.
  19. If he's used as a lefthanded bat only, they could do worse. Would rather Salty as backup 1b than Nava.
  20. He'll be on the opening day roster for better or worse.
  21. Thorpe also played pro baseball and cleaned up at the Olympics. Saying he was only excellent at football is simply wrong.
  22. The problem with saying Lebron is that he plays in a sport where if someone looks at hom the wrong way, it's called a foul. What would happen to him if he lined up as a TE and took a big shot? We'll never know. Jim Thorpe might be the greatest ever, but in my lifetime it's probably Bo. Maybe Deion Sanders (fast, played 2 sports, would be scary on a fastbreak).
  23. If I was Felix, I'd hold out for a 7 year deal of $150M.
