Why give up Bard when you can get Haren on a longer term deal in FA? Haren would be nice, but I don't see this team competing for a WS for a few years. At the point, Haren will be nothing more than a back of the rotation guy.

He was great in 08. Otherwise, he's been up, down and all over the place. He'd drive Sox fans insane. My guess is the Angels are shedding payroll for Haren and Greinke.
If they aren't primed for a WS in 2013 (they aren't), might as well develop the young guys. I don't think they'll go down this road for fear of NESN ratings, but that's what I'd do.
