  1. To compete in 2013, they need more than "a couple of moves." They only won 69 games last year...
  2. Why give up Bard when you can get Haren on a longer term deal in FA? Haren would be nice, but I don't see this team competing for a WS for a few years. At the point, Haren will be nothing more than a back of the rotation guy.
  3. If Ben did swoop, half of you would just give credit to LL and Dracula anyway.
  4. It's on espn.com now. Deal is done.
  5. @jonahkeri: Haren year-by-year fastball velocity, starting in 2007: 91.7, 91.1, 90.6, 90.6, 90.0, 88.5 http://t.co/Q2gf5CEK
  6. And you can stick with the assertion that those two meaningless stories make up the worst year the media has ever had in Boston.
  7. So Clay didn't go to Foxwoods and Lackey wasn't drinking?
  8. What were the fabricated stories again? All the "tabloid" type stuff turned out to be true.
  9. Wow, that was even shorter than SCM's sabbatical. Can't say I'm surprised though.
  10. Hey, if you write something we don't agree with, you'll get blacklisted... Now THAT would be a p.r. nightmare. If you're worried about a player's reaction to the media, he shouldn't play here.
  11. Tell him not to read the paper? If the Sox did go to the media like that, it'd be a huge story and CHB would have a field day.
  12. He was great in 08. Otherwise, he's been up, down and all over the place. He'd drive Sox fans insane. My guess is the Angels are shedding payroll for Haren and Greinke.
  13. I don't want Broxton ever closing for the Sox.
  14. Greinke is looking for the highest contract ever for a RH pitcher. No thanks...
  15. Sorry, but it's not going to happen. At least you can still have Diddy Riese over there.
  16. Averages 20 HR, 75RBI and .875 OPS, is a GG 1b and can play 3b, but is ridiculously overpaid? Yeah, ok.
  17. If they aren't primed for a WS in 2013 (they aren't), might as well develop the young guys. I don't think they'll go down this road for fear of NESN ratings, but that's what I'd do.
  18. Any of ARod's deals...
  19. You still haven't explained how it was ridiculously big.
  20. Last year's third place finisher signed a 5yr/$65M deal. Is he overpaid too?
  21. This makes no sense. They didn't pick up a team option, what's the big deal. In 2008, he was voted 3rd in the MVP. Was it a ridiculous contract then?
  22. 4yr/$41M for 09-12 is ridiculously big for a 30 year old guy?
  23. Curt Young has been good in Oakland after losing this staff. Not sure if Peterson would make a difference.
  24. 3/$55 for Swisher? You think he's worth $18M?
