    I don't agree that players should be punished for compiling, but I also don't think 3,000 hits should be an automatic entry. Arbitrary standards like that are silly when the game has evolved over the past 100 years.

    What they should do is give him a full year ban, but keep his salary as part of the luxury tax cap. Yanks should also pay out his salary, but 100% goes to drug prevention youth programs. That way, teams would not be able to turn a blind eye to dirty players.

    Hamels signed for 6/144. I think Lester's number will be closer to that. If his agent asked for 6/126, I'd jump on it. He'd get more in FA.
