    Masterson is a fifth starter. He's not worth an everyday player. Career ERA at 4.2, WHIP at 1.4. He's worth Salty, not Ellsbury.

    This post boils down to: 1. Swisher was a MUST (he wasn't) 2. Since Ben will not sign Swisher he must go Hillarious. Pony, here's your one trick. The issue is SP, not whoever is playing RF. Call Ben out for a s***** rotation, not for signing Victorino over Swisher.

    I'm fine with any 2-3 year deal. They won't hurt flexibility going forward. They need to move Salty, sign a RF, find at least one SP. Just so you know, I'm in a "play the kids" mode and don't care who they sign as long as there's open competition in ST and the kids can play when they're ready.

    I'd take the lower WHIP from 2011. If he didn't vomit on himself in September, he may have gotten CY consideration and the Sox would have been in the postseason. Frankly, the pitching has been mediocre for a while.

    Just Hamilton would net them 74 wins probably. I'm just saying that all these 3-4 year contracts that people want signed (Ross/Napoli/Swisher) aren't putting the Sox over the top. Without a real pitching upgrade, these signings are useless.

    C'mon, a 5/$125M contract isn't that bad. If that's all we need to do to get TS posters to buy tickets, it must be done! Who cares about the future? We need a year in/year out 88-90 win team that can't make the playoffs. At least they'll be competitive, but not so good as to prevent 12 months of bitchiness!

    BC's comments seem to say that he wouldn't be trading Lester. Could there be a chance they don't pick up a SP? Yup. Or they may get a AAAA starter like last year.
