    Can't be mad at Lester, that's sour grapes. The ownership screwed the pooch here. It's clear that they never really valued Lester and their mediocre offers were just for PR purposes only.

    I'd rather have a motivated Victorino than a guy who says "oh, I'll just sit on the bench and enjoy my fat paychecks." I hope he earns a starting job.

    All MLB guys are overpaid at this point. I'd rather throw money at a problem than move prospects for Hamels.

    @nickcafardo: Red Sox offer to Justin Masterson would be for a starter job not relief. The Red Sox have offered at least two years.

    Yup. Giving him a little extra rest would go a long way to keep his production up too. Great clubhouse guy. Great defense to sub in. Really no downside to having him stick around. His trade value is low and it'd be silly to dump him for a low ceiling AA guy.

    If they get him, they better hope last year was an abberation. Was he dealing with injuries? What $ is he looking for?

    He's 34 and had nagging injuries/been out of the lineup the past 2 years. It's only downhill from here. I think he's the 4th OF.

    They don't need reclamation projects or gambles (isn't that what Buchholz is anyway). They need 2 front end guys.
