    SF would hang up the phone real quick. You'd have to empty the farm with Bogaerts, Owens, Cecchini, Barnes and JBJ. They might not even do that trade. Bumgarner is a 24 year old ace. They have no incentive to move him.

    Bumgarner? For that? No f'n way. Instead of Dempster, you'd have to include Owens, Barnes AND someone else at least. SF has no reason to trade him.

    Pedroia is a better all around player than Ells and is a team leader. All Ells does is provide speed and hit for average. His defense is not that good and he'll never get that 2011 power back. $2M is important for luxury tax purposes. $2M over 5 years is $10M. I'm sure the Sox could find something better to do with that money than just give it away or set it on fire.

    Why do I care if Ells was underpaid in 2011? Does that means he needs to be overpaid now? He's not a $20M guy.

    I don't know how people can still extrapolate Lavs' future production off 2HRs in 2011, but ignoring the past two seasons.

    Yup. If they still want to keep Xander down for defensive reasons, why not bring up WMB? He'll be better in the field and can't hit any worse.

    Is Lavs' bat good enough for 1b? I think the most likely outcome is a FA. Internal options are WMB, Cecchini, Brentz and even Nava (just need RH platoon).
