  1. 14 for the division, 12 for playoffs.
  2. I wouldn't say no to retiring his number, but I still say Pedro, Roger, Boggs and Dewey are more deserving.
  3. Well, all the numbers retired are in the HOF except for Pesky. No HOF = number not retired, unless they start making more exceptions.
  4. With the way the Yankees have been playing anything can happen.
  5. Who wants to see some dingers?
  6. Lowe and Timlin? Can't be worse than Rish I guess. 3 days until Jack has to "move" again.
  7. After fixing Theo's mistakes last season, he was a solid C cup. Now he's more than a handful, maybe DD?
  8. Doubront out of the pen is useless.
  9. Doj, the players don't choose what cap goes on the plaque anymore (Wade Boggs rule). He'll go in as a Red Sox. Also, he was basically run out of town the first time. Why should he have loyalty to a franchise that dumped on him?
  10. What's with the three shaved lines Peavy and Doubront have on the back of their heads? Is it coincidence or do others on the staff have it too?
  11. Another Gold Glove play for the captain!
  12. Why wouldn't you retire Clemens' number? Roids? Attitude? Left Sox on bad terms? They seemed to have welcomed him back. He shouldn't have been let loose in the first place.
  13. 4 game sweep. We'll need an APB to find Jacko after Sunday. He'll probably be "moving" until after the season is over.
  14. Why retire Boggs but not Clemens?
  15. If Ortiz has his number retired, so should Evans. Both are marginal HOF guys. Since Boggs actively lobied to go to the HOF as a Devil Ray, I wouldn't be too upset if his number is never retired. Pedro and Clemens should be locks though.
  16. As an aside, the only # that is currently retired that shouldn't be is # 27
  17. How is Buchholz more likely to be a top starter right now. He's not exactly mowing down batters during his rehab starts. Until he csn throw 90 pitches and be effective, Doubront is the safer bet. Throwing out Buchholz in a playoff game if he isn't back to 100% is much more silly than starting Doubront.
  18. So then it's not about numbers or the WS titles then? Something else?
  19. Manny had much better numbers and was part of both teams. What about him?
  20. If it's that bad, he should be left off the postseason roster.
  21. Schill, Tek and Wake too?
  22. No, not a HOF. Great player, but I think some teams retire too many numbers (coughcough Celtics). Boggs' number isn't retired so Ortiz' shouldn't be either. If they are going to retire more #'s it should be in the following order: 45, 21, 26, 24 (Evans), 34
  23. There's a chance that Buch won't come back and be what he was a the start of the season. He has a WHIP above 2 and hasn't pitched over 3.1 in either of his starts. We just have no idea what he can come back and be. To me, Doubront is the safer bet. Buchholz may have higher upside, but there's also the risk that he won't be ready and could completely s*** the bed. I think Buchholz could have value in the pen if his stamina doesn't come back.
  24. I'd rather have Doubront start than Buchholz right now. There's no telling what Buchholz will be like when he finally starts a game next weekend. After 3 starts, we might know a little bit, but I'd feel more comfortable if he was in the pen during the first round.
  25. That's just mean.
