  1. Nope. Lucchino even refuted the idea of ever wanting a bridge year: “That’s not been the way we’ve operated,” Lucchino said. “We believe with the kind of market we have, the passion and intensity of our fanbase, and the financial wherewithal that that passion turns into, that we should be able to compete year after year. "
  2. If da FO was as good as you jocksniffers say, they woulda used a bridge year in order to get a high draft pick to take Trout.
  3. Yes, the crowd at Fenway is a lot different than 15 years ago, a much more white collar elitist vibe, just happy to be there.
  4. It was bumped to limit the "you don't know what you're talking about" nonsense that goes on here. We dumped on the Sox that offseason and they end up winning the WS. We all know nothing. We are all s***** prognosticators that get paid to do non-baseball things in our regular lives.
  5. Anthony Rizzo looks good these days.
  6. Mookie f'n betts you dummies!
  7. It's not just "New England fans" that like the Sox farm system, it's also people paid to actually evaluate the talent that think it's one if the best farm systems in the game.
  8. Venice of baseball: looks good but smells like s***?
  9. And Fred, with all the stuff you've written on every messageboard from here to the Acadia Water Polo team, I wouldn't get into a war of words with UN. It's not going to be enjoyable and you'll only get your blood pressure up. If you have someone on ignore, just ignore them. Tell your friend to not forward UN's posts if they upset you. Isn't that the reason you have him on ignore in the first place? (If that was me, I'd be more upset with my friend for riling me up than with soneone I'm ignoring. Whatever.) Look, I've got nothing personal against you Fred. Just trying to help not turn this place into a shitstorm.
  10. If I never had to read the term "ballwasher" again, I'd be so happy.
  11. Why do I get the feeling that game threads will be a nightmare this year?
  12. WIt was one of the years where I completely loved the team. Was it a juggernaut? Nope. Pedro was having one of the greatest seasons of all time. The team went down 0-2 to the Guardians with Pedro left for dead. Sox hammered away at the Guardians in games 3 and 4. Then Pedro had his amazing game 5. For me, that season erased a lot of the "this team is cursed" bs I grew up with. Did they beat the Yankees? No. But it was the first year I felt they could actually compete with them. It gave me hope for the future. I'm not such a miserable prick that not winning a WS doesn't ruin a fun season for me. You can't win every year. If someone doesn't enjoy baseball enough that they need to s*** on a team because they overachieved but didn't win the WS, they should find something else to do.
  13. Everyone who wasn't a fan in 99 should watch MLBEpic Moments: Pedro's Peak on the MLB Network. It was a great year to be a Sox fan and really set the stage for the success a few years later.
  14. OAK always has WTF moves that generally work out. Must be frustrating for their fans though, all 524 of them.
  15. Kalish and Lavarnway are both unemployed again.
  16. The game isn't played on paper. See 2011.
  17. As long as they don't get blownout in games 1 and 2, it'll be ok. I don't want to read the endless bitching on here about the Sox if people's vacations are ruined.
  18. Vic and Craig won't be moved until they show they are healthy in Spring Training.
  19. As the kids says these days "that game was the tits."
  20. I'm 99.9% sure Pal was being sarcastic with that one.
  21. Simce 2004, it's now our birthright as Sox fans to get a championship every year. Duh.
  22. He's so elite, the A's are paying him 2.75M to play elsewhere.
  23. Former Red Sox and World Series ring owner John MacDonald has retired.
