  1. When I lived in LA, it was far easier to commute from El Segundo to see a Dodgers game than it is for me to go to Fenway and the distance to/from is about the same. Fred just likes bitching about that stadium for some unknown reason. Also, if you can't watch the Dodgers on tv, just turn on the radio to hear Scully you goober.
  2. If you're visiting from out of town, it's not a pain in the ass to go to Fenway. When it's your hometown team, it's a real bear to go to as many games as you'd really want to.
  3. I've seen 2 Ortiz walkoffs (one was the Brett Myers game), Jim Rice's last game, and a bunch of great Pedro starts from 1998-2003.
  4. And if the game runs late, you have to leave to catch the train.
  5. Please tell me more resident of FL! Tell me all about the easiest way to get to Fenway from my house please!
  6. Or you could pay $50 to park near Fenway. Getting to and from Dodger Stadium is easier than Fenway, unless you're a tourist walking from a nearby hotel.
  7. And "wears funny shoes."
  8. On Papi's favor: rings, clutch moments, game ambassador Opposed: drugs are bad
  9. No link. Just conjecture. Both are HOFers.
  10. There is no strong link, just bachne.
  11. Didn't help Piazza get in the HOF.
  12. Because he signed a contract with the TBDR's that would put a DR hat on his HOF plaque. He was just a guy who put up numbers. He left Boston to win a WS in NY. Thirteen players have worn his number since he left and no one cared. More people cared when Manny used Dewey's number. Clemens' number is basically retired already as no one has worn it since. Same with Pedro.
  13. To me: Retiring Number > HOF Boggs is in the HOF but I wouldn't retire his number.
  14. @JessMoranCSN: Hanley Ramirez on sox rotation"we are going to try to score 10 in the first inning, to try and make it easy for them."
  15. To me, Posada is the NYY Pedroia. If he gets into the HOF, his number should be retired.
  16. Honestly, the only recent NYY numbers that should be retired are Jeter and Rivera. Retiring Posada is basically retiring Varitek. But if NY wants to let everyone into their memeorial garden, may as well erect a Brosius statue and let everyone have a plaque. Blue ribbons for everyone! You are all special snowflakes!
  17. Your secretary must be extra annoying today. What's the harm in this discussion? It's certainly far from a flamewar.
  18. Pedro and Papi. Pedroia only if he gets in HOF.
  19. The SB has been a corporate event for the past 20 years or so. It's not known as a good fan event.
  20. Is anyone buying the "Lucchino is on the way out" chatter of the past few days? http://www.bostonglobe.com/sports/2015/02/16/are-red-sox-shifting-away-from-larry-lucchino/yOI0qA1XmsDKQMYg7BUpCM/story.html I know it comes from Shank, but could this be a real issue?
  21. I'm 100% onboard with this conspiracy!
  22. The only problem is the 4 guys to play 8 positions thing. The offense is on paper going mash and mash. The players that won't hit as well (Pedroia, CV, Vic) play excellent defense. Complain about the pitching all you want, but I have a hard time understanding what anyone's issue with the lineup will be.
  23. Or he's so poor that he couldn't afford to lose 25 cents. Spare change ma'am?
  24. What game was that?
  25. Sox need to retire 34 and 45.
