  1. Yeah, that was your first post about Iggy aside from saying "hope Vasquez doesn't turn into Iggy 2.0."
  2. Um, this was the original post. It ignores (a) Peavy, ( that Iggy wouldn't have played in the WS ahead of Drew, © not one talent scout believes Iggy is better than XB, (d) the aftermath of the trade included a WS ring, (e) how unsustainable Iggy's BABIP was, (f) that Detroit gave up a top prospect of their own and (g) that Iggy's defense was subpar on routine plays and it's ignored because of the ESPN highlight plays (he flat out sucked at 3b).
  3. And if Avisail Garcia turns into a really good player?
  4. For shame! Grandparents should never be allowed visitation rights (the real goal here)!
  5. Because internet commenters are scumbags.
  6. .391 in 2012 .654 with Tigers .678 career
  7. With how much Farrell wants Drew to come back, I think we kinda know what he would have done.
  8. Not debateable. In hindsight you could try to fashion all sorts of incorrect arguments. If Iggy, XB and Drew were all on the roster in the postseason, Iggy doesn't leave the bench.
  9. Here's a shovel. Maybe you can dig an ever deeper hole for yourself?
  10. I didn't really want to think about Grady Little today. Thanks UN!
  11. Best Offense - 03 Best Starters - 86 (only because of Hurst and Clemens being so dominant) Best Bullpen - 13 Best Overall - 04 (solid rotation, great bullpen, offense full of mashers) 03's bullpen left something to be desired.
  12. I would like to see a spot start here and there from the young guys and really hope Vasquez is given a real chance here. I know some people are pining for Butler, but I'd rather see Vasquez called up first.
  13. He wasn't a "key piece," but he was more usefull than Iggy would have been sitting on the bench. XB and Drew were both better options than Iggy when September rolled around.
  14. It's not a mistake when you acquire a piece that helps you win a World Series. They didn't need Iggy once Drew was healthy. It was better to move him for a starter.
  15. The 86 team was the best Red Sox team of my childhood. They were pretty good on RBI Baseball too! The 03, 04 and 07 teams were probably better though.
  16. Swihart is good enough and athletic enough that he could transition to another position (i.e. Biggio). Vasquez is what he is, a good defensive catcher that isn't hitting at the moment.
  17. HR on first pitch of the season. I too have the 1987 Topps Record Breaker card.
  18. 1986 was also Rich Gedman's last good year. The rest of his career was derailed due to injuries and ownership collusion.
  19. He can't hit.
  20. I'm embarassed for you right now. These comebacks are pathetic for someone from Brooklyn.
  21. Does a sad trombone follow you everywhere you go?
  22. Wasn't Hurst listed as MVP during the 9th inning of game 6?
  23. I remember being so excited for the Dave Henderson/Spike Owen trade and moving their baseball cards to my Sox binder. The 20 strikeout game! My favorite player having his last great season. Don Baylor getting hit by pitches. Buckner's sweet hightop cleats. The chicken man flicking balls off the monster with ease. Bruce Bleeping Hurst! Oil Can pitched my first 3 visits to Fenway.
  24. Now that would be drama! How many blown saves would he have at Yankee Stadium?!?
  25. If you construct a roster solely of former Mets and Marlins, you're gonna have a bad time.
