They don't really have to give up all that much to get a 1b. Across the league, 1b isn't really a highly prioritized position of need so the price tends to be low. Schwarber for Aldo Ramirez (equivalent is Paez) 2024 deadline: Josh Bell dealt for PTBNL, Justin Turner traded for RJ Schreck (29th ranked Mariners prospect) 2023 deadline: Josh Bell traded for Segura (released immediately)/Watson, Carlos Santana traded for Jhonny Severino (12 games in FCL at the time) If Abreu or Duran is being dealt, it's for a long term, high ceiling asset and not a 1b.

That QO seems pretty high for a RP. The only relievers to get close to that in recent years were Diaz and Hader.

If I was the Cardinals, I'm only poaching from the Sox system if there's a guy Bloom really covets. They haven't won a WC series since 2019. I know this team has surprised them a little, but why not give back to the fanbase and just go for it? The team wasn't very good in '23 and '24.
