  1. I'd be ok with that. Porcello could wind up being a #2.
  2. All MLB guys are overpaid at this point. I'd rather throw money at a problem than move prospects for Hamels.
  3. @nickcafardo: Red Sox offer to Justin Masterson would be for a starter job not relief. The Red Sox have offered at least two years.
  4. Am I the only guy that would want Shields?
  5. Yup. Giving him a little extra rest would go a long way to keep his production up too. Great clubhouse guy. Great defense to sub in. Really no downside to having him stick around. His trade value is low and it'd be silly to dump him for a low ceiling AA guy.
  6. If they get him, they better hope last year was an abberation. Was he dealing with injuries? What $ is he looking for?
  7. He's 34 and had nagging injuries/been out of the lineup the past 2 years. It's only downhill from here. I think he's the 4th OF.
  8. And it'll be a joy to hear Joe Buck wax poetic about him all game long.
  9. They don't need reclamation projects or gambles (isn't that what Buchholz is anyway). They need 2 front end guys.
  10. You weren't saying this during Spring Training 2013.
  11. You owe me royalties.
  12. Edes is a dipshit.
  13. I'm glad you agree.
  14. Our staff has enough 3-4's.
  15. f*** that.
  16. Mike Napoli as Dave Attell Insomniac
  17. Cespedes should definitely be filming Original Coors ads though. Those would be great. I would also like to see Sandoval "Hi Neighbor" ads.
  18. Fielding a playoff team: pass They need a guy to lead the staff, either Lester or Shields would be fine. They also need a #2 guy. They will probably be paying out the nose. They wouldn't need to if any of the pitching prospects met their ceiling (Webster, Renaudo (Aka Calvin Schiraldi 2.0), RDLR, etc).
  19. You are overstating Cespedes' value just a little bit there.
  20. Liriano sucks. They better not sign him unless they need another #5. Why get someone worse than Buchholz?
  21. I agree, they are a wealthyteam and can't cry poor. They just aren't a "big market" in terms of population size. They are more like a "rich market" team. When ownership complains about the evil empire and that BS, it's embarassing.
  22. Well, there are 13 clubs with larger markets than Boston, so strictly in terms of "market size" they are in the middle. Sox fans are just more likely to pay higher ticket prices to keep their team's salary limits towards the top of the league.
  23. I think the Sox should pay whatever it takes to get the best pitchers available. It has worked for the Giants.
  24. You wanted to bet money that he'd sign with the Sox at 6/120 a few weeks ago. Now you are saying he wouldn't have signed for that last year. Did he lose value over the last 12 months?
  25. They offered less than $100M last year. He'll sign for $150+. A competitive offer of 6/120ish would have most likely got the deal done last year. 4/70 is a garbage offer.
