For the vast majority of Pedro's time in Boston, I lived within walking distance of Fenway. I got ton of cheap tickets on gamedays and saw many great games. Back in the late 90's/early 00's, it was a different feeling around town on gameday if Pedro was pitching. No one ever captured Boston's heart like he did. He was the greatest pitcher I ever saw. He is a very interesting, brilliant and funny guy. I still remember game 5 of the 1999 ALDS like it was yesterday. 1999 will always mean the world to me. I graduated college, went to more Sox games than any other year, adopted the greatest dog ever and named him Pedro.
No matter how much this team sucks now, they can never take away those moments from me.
If there is any pride left, the Sox need to win today. Those old Sox teams would go on losing streaks, but Pedro could always be the stopper to turn things around. Let's win this one for the greatest living pitcher, Pedro.
A swig of Presidente, for the great Pedro Martinez!
