Based on him being 41 and showing diminished velocity and effectiveness. Why have a guy like that set to throw 70 innings? That's just asking for trouble. All along, people have said to watch his workload. They give him the most appearances on the team. He gets injured. Where's the surprise?

When you are an older pitcher, you are more likely to get hurt while pitching. So pitch him less.

Yeah, I honestly don't care who is in during a 4 run lead. If Kimbrel was available and had a fresh arm, he could have pitched. If Koji was well rested and had a manageable workload, it would have been ok for him to be pitching last night. I was just worried that the innings were piling up fast and furious.

This may be going too far down the wormhole here, but my issue is that historically on Talksox too many injuries have been described as "freakish." Sometimes older guys are more likely to get injured? Maybe guys like Ellsbury are more likely to get injured which makes his injury history less "freakish?"

So people that saw him breaking down ahead of time and pointed out the Koji was being overworked were wrong and there was nothing to be concerned about even though he suffered an in game injury? Got it.

Why not? The spot was open in the first few weeks. It was Pomeranz who requested the opportunity to start. If he had shown the ability to start in spring training, Dombrowski/Farrell have shown the willingness to give new guys a chance.
