  1. They have no problem with bad PR (see 2011 offseason and all the nonsense that went on then). Dumping Farrell wouldn't have hurt TV ratings (they got rid of the popular Orsillo). Dumping Farrell wouldn't have hurt ticket sales (no one goes to Fenway to see the manager).
  2. Mookie's was .994 in AA. After that, they moved him to AAA for 45 games. I don't see why people want to rush Benintendi. He's not really knocking the door down right now.
  3. Mookie had almost 400 chances in the OF last year. It doesn't come down to just plate appearances.
  4. What would you be willing to trade for him?
  5. I would have not given Farrell an extension in the offseason and would have made Lovullo the manager for one.
  6. Gets them back on track!
  7. Because if he's traded or let go, they can't pick up the option. The bet wasn't "will Buchholz be here in 2017 or not?" There's a difference there.
  8. The same sample size that people were drooling over when he started to hit in AA! I was told he'd be hitting .300 by July! Nope!
  9. Sure! Put me in for one month. However, if he is gone before the end of the season (DFA'd or whatever), the bet is null and void.
  10. Ortiz had already played well during the 2002 postseason. Furthermore, Ortiz had twice the amount of hits in the 2003 ALDS as Trout has had in his ENTIRE postseason career. Terrible argument.
  11. Best cold and drizzly day ever.
  12. #neversarcasm This team needs to win as much as they can at home before they spend the majority of the second half on the road. When you have a lead against one of the worst teams in baseball, you need to put them away. They should have gone 3-1 at the very least. That series was inexcusable.
  13. Not hitting for Workman late in the game when Napoli was on the bench. Not moving on from Salty sooner. Sox really needed Ross' defense and Salty's bat wasn't doing enough to keep him in the lineup. Used Gomes over Nava too often. Too slow to get Xander playing time when he played well down the stretch. Drew's bat was terrible and Middlebrooks wasn't doing anything. Salty and Middlebrooks combined to really screw up the end of game 3.
  14. He has a .083 BA in the postseason. Would rather be golfing. Sad. #nevertrout
  15. Due to our crack beat writers, there has been no mention of him for about a week since Farrell said that the team has “to be careful” with his rehab.
  16. O'Sullivan's career WAR is -2.3. He's a veteran AAAA starter. There really weren't. No one said the market for Buchholz was sky high, just that he is an asset that has value. He's a perfectly adequate starter with a reasonable contract (only $13M!).
  17. Acquiring a temporary replacement for LF, until Young comes back, is basically GM'ing 101. It should be easy to find a guy like that. Promoting Benintendi to do that is just a panic move, imo.
  18. Couldn't even win a series against the Twins. Farrell is a rollercoaster ride. The Sox need a steadier hand, which Lovullo seemed to wield last year. There's no downside to moving on from Farrell, a guy that has shown horrible instincts both on and off the field.
  19. Who praised him the first year? He lucked into a WS and made a ton of weird moves when he got there. People sang Ben's praises in 2013 and rightfully so. I don't remember anyone saying Farrell was above average. And if people are hot for Lovullo because Farrell leaves a lot to be desired, great!
  20. Lovullo is as good as Farrell if not better. Keeping Farrell on is just a sign of complacency imo.
  21. He's going all in. Panic move? Feeding the monster? If they don't win the WS, his tenure will be a failure.
  22. Over the last 4 seasons, Buch's earned an average value of $13.4M according to the Fangraphs Tribune. 2016 is a lost year. There's a good chance he'll have a very productive season next year.
  23. Trout is content with playing for a loser. He'd shrink under the spotlight. No thanks.
