Porcello worked out this year. Beckett was our ace for a few years. The only guy I can think of that was brought in to be an ace that didn't work out was Price and he still has a chance to redeem himself. The only other big acquisition was Lackey and he really was only expected to be a #3.

If they want to platoon at DH, wouldn't they just go with in house options like Young, Shaw, Sandoval and other guys on the roster with split issues?

I still can't figure out for the life of me why anyone would give two shits about Cla Meredith at this point. He was barely a prospect. The fact that he didn't become a bullpen ace in the majors shouldn't even register as a blip on our radar.

If you listen to Speier on the latest Soxprospects podcast, scouts aren't as high on Moncada as they once were. Maybe they should move him before he falls off further?

The Sox need pitching, not another bat. We saw in the postseason that you can't win relying solely on offensive output.

Oh sure. He's a fantastic pitcher and probably the best reliever on the market. I just don't believe he's a multiple inning guy like the ones we saw this postseason. I'd rather have Jansen than our current closer, but I'm not sure Dombrowski sees it that way.
