  1. I guess if we're going down that much of a doomer route, might as well not even bother talking about any top tier pitching then. Sox will just be a middle of the road team at best. Maybe they'll get in the playoffs every few years, but no chance at a WS. Root for cost savings and laundry. It's all we have left I guess. 🫡
  2. Preemptively cutting your scouting program in '25 to save costs in '27 in case of a short term work stoppage is a lot of hoop jumping to me.
  3. Because another team might trade for Skubal and extend him before then.
  4. If they trade for Skubal, they are all in on extending him at a massive contract.
  5. https://soxprospects.com/payroll.htm
  6. Is that why the Sox are taking a chainsaw to their scouting department budget?
  7. Maybe over a longer contract he adjusts his approach? It's still a better fit than a pull heavy LHB.
  8. Per SP, Sox are projected at 24M under right now. They'll be over.
  9. DD said he's not trading Painter, but I'm fine with these moves.
  10. Gallen has a QO attached and less than 4 fWAR the past two seasons combined. Pass.
  11. Murakami is going to be a high ceiling/low floor guy with a big contract and bad defense. I'd go with Okamoto who would have much better defense, which makes me question the overall WAR calc.
  12. I’ll probably get a Yak hat.
  13. Salem changed their name to the RidgeYaks.
  14. Okamoto isn't very similar to Masa. He has a lot more power and is a very good fielder. If they traded for Lodolo? I'd still go for Woodruff because he's a big value play to me a 22 AAV. Maybe pass on Hoskins and bring back Matz? C Narvaez/Wong 1B Okamoto 2B Romy/Hamilton SS Story 3B Mayer/Sogard OF Abreu/Rafaela/Anthony/Refsnyder/Masa Crochet/Woodruff/Lodolo/Bello/Sandoval Chapman/Whitlock/Slaten/Matz/Weissert/Bernardino/Criswell/Hicks I'd still rather be able to spend more than $45M.
  15. That Murakami contract is a very expensive lottery ticket. I don't want any part of it. The variance on what he could be isn't worth it to me since JH isn't free spending anymore.
  16. I'm not saying it's "the best approach" but it's something that he's particularly struggled with. The idea that he knows the k zone better than the umps is just silly to me. Don't let the umps put you on the bench.
  17. His best season was when he had his best approach while having 2 strikes on him. Are you misreading what I'm trying to say? His lowest strike out looking percentage was 27% and occurred in '23 when he was most successful.
  18. I just think Woodruff provides so much more value at only 6M more AAV. If he pitches like he did in '25, he's a #2. Kelly is not that.
  19. Woodruff @ 3/66 is right in my wheelhouse. I'm signing him today.
  20. No way are they spending 70M AAV on Cease, Murakami and Suarez.
  21. If the Sox can only spend about 45M this offseason: (Per the FanGraphs tracker) Okamoto 3/48 16M Hoskins 1/8 8M Woodruff 3/55 22M
  22. If they don't sign anyone, the rotation is trash unless the young guys take massive leaps.
  23. Sox save some money as they already have a Polar Bear logo on file. Could get Paws out of retirement too!
  24. Sandoval's years of pitching well were a long time ago as you said AND pre-injury. '26 should be a rollercoaster ride for him coming back from TJS. His upside to me is 4th starter. No way does he have 2 fWAR next season/pitch better than Gio's '25.
