  1. When I said they'd pick up his option, everyone said I was being foolish. How about your declaration that Price should pitch out of the pen in the playoffs?
  2. No. That would be an insane take.
  3. Well, if you never want to be taken seriously...
  4. No, he just thought Price and Buchholz were the same pitcher for some reason.
  5. To me, it just makes more sense to put Buchholz back in the pen during the playoffs. As previously stated, ERod really doesn't have a bullpen track record. Pomeranz is too good to take out of the rotation.
  6. Sports teams are not run like businesses. They are run like investments. The true value of the team is not in the day to day revenue, but the overall gain of the asset. If the Sox were sold today, they'd get about $2.5B. The Sox were purchased for $660M less than 15 years ago.
  7. Put Buchholz back in the pen on Oct 1.
  8. I thought there was no way to get Pablo there due to service time issues?
  9. Sometimes the sequel is better than the original, but sometimes it is not.
  10. The question marks were: Will Price adjust to Boston? It took a while, but he's there now. Will ERod come back healthy? Same as above. Will Porcello pitch more like first half of 2015 or second half? Looks like the first half was the fluke, not the second half. Will Buchholz stay in the rotation? He did not, but he's fighting to re-earn his spot. Will Kelly stay in the rotation? Nope, he's gone. If either Kelly or Buchholz falter, can Wright be serviceable? Even with his recent injury, he was still the best "5th starter" in the league. Thankfully, Pomeranz is also pitching like he's still in San Diego.
  11. Pomeranz is the #3 right now and it's not even close.
  12. Which WAR is on the back of baseball cards: Baseball Reference or Fangraphs? It's Baseball Reference.
  13. I wouldn't have him be a setup guy though. I'd rather him be the long reliever/spot starter guy than an inning here or there.
  14. To me, Clay needs to be eased back into longer outings. 87 pitches is actually more than I would have expected him to go. I think Farrell has done a good job managing Buchholz this year.
  15. Wright isn't pitching again this year.
  16. I'm just glad that Farrell decided he didn't need Wright to be able to pitch down the stretch. They really didn't need their 3rd (maybe 4th) best starter for the stretch run.
  17. I didn't say he did provide what was expected. My sentence was "if... Hill provided what was expected, Moncada would be playing sparingly." Moncada isn't playing sparingly. Therefore, Hill isn't providing what was expected.
  18. I think "mental problems" are overstated for MLB players. You won't be pitching in MLB for very long if you aren't mentally tough.
  19. And he was limited in previous starts as well. His previous 3 starts were in order 71, 81 and 94 pitches. His first start after a return to the rotation has been met with a quick hook and not necessarily due to performance.
  20. I think the bruised ego rationale is better suited to young pitchers rather than young hitters. Hitters are used to failing 70% of the time. He just needs to be given him time to adjust.
  21. If Shaw wasn't in a free fall and Hill provided what was expected, Moncada would be playing sparingly. Unfortunately, that's not the case. Moncada was brought up because they needed him.
  22. Uh, wut?
  23. He strikes out a lot, but you have to stick with him through the end of the year. Shaw and Hill weren't playing all that great anyway. Soxprospects was saying his high K rate was due to him knowing "the strike zone better than the AA umps." Maybe it's not really the case?
  24. Except that losing to the Jays or O's would hurt them more than losing to the Padres since they are not competing for a WC spot with the Padres. Some wins are more important than others. For example, if they lose the next 2 games, there's a chance that they could still only be one game back. However, if they lost 2 straight games to the Jays, they'd fall 3 games back.
